Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 10/13/2010

Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews! …yes, we know it’s Wednesday. Blame our editor in chief! Anyway, here you can find out what we at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s new books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!

2000 AD #1706 (Rebellion Developments
Aron:
This has been the most boring encounter I’ve ever had with “The Galaxy’s Greatest”. Still worth a look, though.

Adventure Comics #519 (DC)
NickZ: Superboy was drawn very girly in this issue. It was distracting.

The Amazing Spider-Man #645 (Marvel)
Andy:
I actually don’t hate the art like most people I talk to. It’s the story that’s kind of bizarre, but I’m enjoying it.
Aron: He hasn’t kicked that much ass since “Back in Black”. Go, Spidey!

Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #5 (DC)
Andy:
Holy crazy hats Batman! After this one, go back and read #2 for a reminder of just how awesome this series is.

Bruce Wayne The Road Home Batgirl #1 (DC)
Andy: My favorite of all the one shots. This series is fun and rich with character development, and I’m happy to finally see Steph come into her own. Plus, reference to a beloved character who’s been MIA. Oh, and I also agree with Nick.
NickZ: The reaction Batgirl had to Bruce being alive was hilarious.

Bruce Wayne The Road Home Batman and Robin #1 (DC)
Andy: Interesting choice to delay Bruce’s first encounter with Dick and Damian…
NickZ: Bruce is back and in typical Bruce fashion! Totally rad.

Bruce Wayne The Road Home Red Robin #1 (DC)
Andy: How can you not be a fan of the man Tim is becoming?
NickZ: Tim and Bruce analyzing each other was great. I love how these two work together.

Bruce Wayne The Road Home Outsiders #1 (DC)
Andy: Well done, all things considered. I remember when Bruce lead this “team,” so it was nice to check in to see where it’s at…
NickZ: This was my least favorite BWTRH one shot but Bruce and Katana’s heart to heart redeemed it for me.

Daken Dark Wolverine #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: Daken and Mystique definitely have a unique chemistry.

DC Comics Presents: Batman/Catwoman 100 Page Spectacular #1 (DC)
Andy: At first glance $7.99 seems a bit steep; but then you realize you’re buying an entire graphic novel.

Green Lantern #58 (DC)
Andy:
Since Blackest Night, this series is finally getting into a groove again with character moments galore.

Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #3 (DC)
Andy:
Now THAT’S what I call a splash page!

Hellblazer: City of Demons #1 (Vertigo)
Aron: Once again, John Constantine is in a f’ed up situation. Once again, it is a good read.

House of Mystery: Halloween Annual #2 (Vertigo)
Aron:
For the second straight week, the good House of Mystery features…toilet paper! Only this one is not killer! And this wasn’t as good as the last Halloween’s annual.

The Incredible Hulks #614 (Marvel)
Andy: Greg Pak: best writer of The Incredible Hulk since Peter David.

Justice League Generation Lost #11 (DC)
NickZ: Ice really stepped up this issue! At least one ice powered character can kick ass. Take note Robert Drake.

Knight and Squire #1 (DC)
Andy: Goofy and sharp witted makes this one not for everyone. I thought it was great.
NickZ: This reminded me of the Tick, if the the Tick were British.

The New Avengers #5 (Marvel)
Andy:
Yeah, this series has become my favorite Avengers title right now! “Here’s my rule: I’m the good guy. And if there’s someone hittin’ me…they’re the bad guy.” – The Thing

Outsiders #33 (DC)
NickZ: This series needs bring back some of the other Outsiders and from the looks of what’s to come, it better be soon!

Shadowland #4 (Marvel)
Andy: Oof. I don’t get it: Everyone is going after Matt for stabbing Bullseye…and then Wolverine just spears him in the chest…this is really losing steam.
Aron: Well…this has turned into a pile of steaming crap. Very disappointed in this series. It pains me.

Strange Tales II #1 (Marvel)
Aron:
It was alright. The art was mostly bad. Jeff Lemire TOTALLY ROCKED on a Man-Thing story! But I thought he was DC exclusive…

Superman #703 (DC)
Andy: Good stuff. And we had some action that raises plenty of questions…
NickZ: The Batman/Superman relationship doesn’t work well without it being Bruce under the cape and cowl.

The Thanos Imperative #5 (Marvel)
Andy:
Ok, I am officially invested in the Marvel Cosmic universe!

Thor #616 (Marvel)
Andy:
Red Lanterns threaten to invade the vacant space left by Asgard when it came to Midgard. Feels like something exciting is on the horizon…

Tomb of Terror #1 (Marvel)
Aron: Not bad. Didn’t have much attention span for the all-text story, though. But just a one-shot? Come on, Marvel! Put out an ongoing, dammit!
Decapitated Dan: Meh, too bad the mummy story was a story. But just meh in my book.

Untold Tales of Blackest Night #1 (DC)
Andy:
Ok, I want more Yellow Lantern Scarecrow! Surprisingly pretty good…but why didn’t this come out months ago?

Warlord of Mars #1 (Dynamite Entertainment)
Andy:
Flippin’ awesome! Arvid Nelson is the man. If you liked this, definitely read Zero Killer!!
Aron: Very interesting. Looking forward to #2!

X-Men #4 (Marvel)
Andy: Er…where’s Dracula?
Jeff: Blade & Angel could be the new Power Man & Iron Fist.
NickZ: I think Cyclops came off as a major tool in this issue with all the “my city” and lame threats.

Andy and Aron. What the Hell 140 Characters or less. Shame on you both. 😛

And at Nick Z I will get Infinite Speech’s Iceman to come break your camera with that kinda talk

  2. Billy

Oooh, a spanking from DD. 😀

  3. Nick

lol Dan, I was all scared for a minute but then i remembered that it’s just Iceman……so it’s not like he’s going to do anything about it anyway!

  4. Aron

What the hell’re you talking about, Double Dee? Which one is over 140 characters? I haven’t read a comic with 140 characters since THE AVENGERS in the 90’s.

  5. InfiniteSpeech

Be careful Nick I’ve learned that Iceman has the power to not only break your camera but hold you up in a line while you’re hungry as hell with his powers of indecisiveness lol
