Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12//21/16

Aliens: Life & Death #4 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: If you’re missing the movies then you should get right into this series

Animosity #4 (Aftershock)
Infinite Speech: Sander and Jessie’s relationship just kicks you right in the feels and there’s also tortoises strapped with rocket launchers. Rocket. Launchers.

Aquaman #13 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Abnett has given me an Aquaman title that I finally like and anxiously wait for every issue! It’s about damn time!

Batman #13 (DC)
Arnab: While this issue feels a tad rushed, Mikel Janin’s art makes it all worth it.
Infinite Speech: Well, it started off nice but at least the art is still good.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I loved Mikel Janin’s art, but the pacing, and content, of the end of the story arc just didn’t work for me.

Bloodshot U.S.A. #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This really looks like the bad guys just might win. Damn.

Captain America: Sam Wilson #16 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Anyone else feel like this is and has always been a Misty Knight title but without her name on the cover?

Divinity III #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This is bigger than Valiant let on and I’m here to see Ninjak and Abram save the day!

Doctor Strange #15 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The new Watcher is a little more hands on than Uatu and it’s actually funny.

Green Arrow #13 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. 1 of the strongest Rebirth books turns in another great issue. Ollie’s been framed & I want to know who did it.

Horizon #6 (Image)
Infinite Speech: First arc is done and Horizon has solidified a place on my pull list! Lincoln is also going to come back and put his foot in someone’s ass after this fight!

Justice League #11 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Great art, but story was off with a weak, too easy ending after the big set-up.

Justice League Vs Suicide Squad #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Seems a bit forced but I’m here to see what happens if the art stays this good.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I get tired of forced hero team battles, but the art looks great & the mysterious 3rd party intrigues me.

Klaus and the Witch of Winter #1 (Boom! Studios)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A fantastic one-shot bringing Morrison’s Santa Claus origin story into the modern age.

Locke & Key: Small World #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: We return to Key House and once again it’s storytelling excellence from Hill and Rodriguez!

The Misfits #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: We get a bit of an origin on the group and see that Pizzazz is more than what she appears to be. Don’t know if I should be happy or upset that Thompson has made me like her now!

Nightwing #11 (DC)
Arnab: Tim Seeley and Marcus To are a perfect pairing.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Lots of great character development and background, with really strong art & the set-up of the next arc.

Peter Panzerfaust #25 (Image)
Arnab: A tremendously emotional ending to a great series.

Power Man and Iron Fist Annual #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: One hell of a team up takes place here as the good guys throw down with Krampus! A very fun holiday story right here!

Raven #4 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. I really want to like this Raven book. I like the character, & the art is good. But in the story, nothing much happens.
