Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12/14/16

Action Comics #969 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A bit less action this time, which is good, as it focuses more on the background of L’Call the Godslayer

All-New X-Men #16 (Marvel)
Arnab: I don’t particularly care for half this cast. But I do love me some baby Cyclops and Iceman, and X-23.
Infinite Speech: Idie is the only reason I check this out from time to time but it looks like Beast just got a power up and it might not be good in the long run.

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures#2 (DC/IDW)
Arnab: This book is beyond adorable.
Infinite Speech: Best fight between the Turtles and the Batfamily! Loved Mickey’s reactions!

Black #3 (Black Mask)
Infinite Speech: Loving this series because it pulls no punches and hits harder than Tyson!

Deathstroke #8 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Christopher Priest made this Deathstroke vs Superman match a cerebral and physical masterpiece!

Detective Comics #945 (DC)
Arnab: When will Tim be back? #foreverwaiting
Martin: 4/5 stars. Despite what Batman says to Tim in the opening pages, this IS a team & it’s the best team book DC has now.

Flash #12 (DC)
Arnab: The more non-speedster villains the better in my book.
Infinite Speech: This felt like an old school superhero story and that’s what I’m here for.
Martin: 4/5 stars. I would’ve liked more Shade, but there’s a lot of good “new” Wally parts in this to help make him his own character.

Hawkeye #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: You see a book with Kelly Thompson as the writer and you just pick it up. Seriously. Just do it.

IvX #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: Not a bad start. Beast got what he deserved. The Inhumans better get what they deserve, and by that I mean excruciating pain and death.
Infinite Speech: Not a bad jumpoff for the event but I’d never thought I’d see the day the X-Men didn’t get top billing on a title after the 90s.

Jessica Jones #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Bendis and Maleev are working their magic here and it makes me miss their Scarlet series even more now.

Motor Girl #2 (Abstract)
Infinite Speech: Okay, this should be added to your pull list immediately. Terry Moore writes some of the best stories in comics and you shouldn’t be missing out.

Optimus Prime #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Takes the mythos even deeper and gives us a more rounded and complex Optimus Prime.

Power Man & Iron Fist #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: It’s just going to get worse for the good guys from here. I can feel it.

Reborn #3 (Image)
Infinite Speech: You never EVER jump into a portal in some creepy guy’s cloak! Miller and Capullo deliver another great one here!

Spider-Man #10 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Damn! This was an emotional issue but I’ll be glad when Civil War II is officially over and we can get back to Spidey stories.

Supergirl #4 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I don’t really like Cyborg Superman, but this arc has been a good way to explore Supergirl’s character in Rebirth.

Superwoman #5 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. This series had so much promise, but this last issue was just a disappointment, both art and story-wise.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #65 (IDW)
Arnab: Pretty much the essence of Christmas bundled up into a single issue.
Infinite Speech: One of the best Christmas specials and Santolouco packs so many surprises in the artwork!

Uncanny Avengers #17 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This series has been the best of what the X-Men and Avengers books used to be. And now that Hydra Cap has Bruce’s body it’s probably not going to end well.

Wonder Woman #12 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Rucka and Scott have been brilliant on this book, and the Nicola Scott art lifts it just that much more.
