Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 08/02/17

Adventure Time Regular Show #1 (Boom!)
NickZ: The crossover we’ve all been waiting for was definitely worth the wait!

Bane Conquest #4 (DC)
NickZ: It seems odd to me that Bane and Catwoman seem to not know each other.

Batman #28 (DC)
Arnab: This arc has been fantastic, absolutely brutal for the people of Gotham, but still fantastic, lol.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Compelling story-telling of a city at war. Unique panel designs. Nice to see Batman not always having the answers.
NickZ: I know Batman is being pushed to his breaking point but seeing him take down Deathstroke and Deadshot simultaneously was awesome!

Champions #11 (Marvel)
NickZ: The allusions to Trump’s dark reign are pretty blatant in this issue, the Champions are woke AF!

Darth Vader #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: They hyped Master Infil’a up and this is how they end the fight with Vader? Like THIS??! Looks like I’m on my way to the Darkside because anger & hate is what I’m feeling now!

Deathstroke #22 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Priest is the best thing to happen to Deathstroke in years!

East of West #34 (Image)
Arnab: Consistently one of the best books on the market. Honestly, I feel like not enough people are reading it.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Spectacular art & cool character designs. And man, do I hate Chamberlain with the fire of a thousand suns.

Generations: Banner Hulk & Totally Awesome Hulk #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Not sure where this is headed but this one-shot was a fun meeting of the Hulks

Green Arrow #28 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Lex Luthor & GA don’t normally interact, so it’s fun to see them trading barbs. Superman is also handled well.

Green Lanterns #28 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. The Cruz/Baz relationship takes a backseat this issue, but the introduction of the 1st 7 Lanterns is great.

Hawkeye #9 (Marvel)
NickZ: Poor Kate can’t catch a break, or even a nap for that matter! It’s a good thing she has some great friends and the best dog!

Injection #14 (Image)
NickZ: The story, characters, and art of this book are simply brilliant! A must read for any Sci-Fi fan!

Iron Fist #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The palette cleanser for the Iron Fist Netflix series is here! Brisson and Perkins deliver a series worth the time and money!

Justice League #26 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. An interesting, is somewhat cliched, topic as the JL meet their future descendants. Visually, it looks cool
NickZ: I’m intrigued by this book for the first time since Rebirth began.

Nightwing #26 (DC)
Arnab: Spyral really needs to keep away from Dick.
NickZ: It didn’t take long for Dick and Helena to get tangled back in Spyral’s web.

Samaritan Veritas #3 (Top Cow)
NickZ: Such an amazing ending to this great Edenverse miniseries! I am beyond excited that Mirra is getting her own in 2018!

Noble #4 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Superhero comics like this are what they should have been from day one!

Predator: Hunters #4 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Everything about this series just got kicked way past 10 because Warner and Velasco just put some new life into the Predator mythos!

Robotech #1 (Titan)
Infinite Speech: Wood managed to make Minme NOT annoying so I’m definitely on board with this!

Seven to Eternity #8 (Image)
NickZ: This book should really be titled “Trust No Bitch” because everyone betrays or gets betrayed by somebody.

Sex Criminals #20 (Image)
NickZ: Sex, comedy, drama, educational value, social commentary, and the best letter columns in history is why everyone should be reading this book!

Spider-Man #19 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: What in all the Spider-Verse was this? If you’re having trouble sleeping just read this issue and that won’t be a problem.

Superman #28 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. While I liked Part 1 of this “family road trip” story, I think the story could’ve been a 1-and-done.
NickZ: Superman and his family honoring US historical sites was unexpectedly moving.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #73 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Turtles in space stories are always some of the best!

True Believers: Kirby 100th – Black Panther #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I have the original but if you don’t then check this out for some classic Kirby awesomeness!

X-Men Gold #9 (Marvel)
NickZ: Deportations, Resurrections, and Proposals, oh my!

The Walking Dead #170 (Image)
Arnab: With the majority of the original crew dead, I’m glad they’re taking the time to further develop some of the newer characters.
NickZ: Splitting people up in groups to tell more personalized stories is exactly what this book needed.

The Woods #34 (Boom!)
NickZ: As each character sets off on their final missions, I’m both excited and sad to reach the ending.
