Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 07/19/17

Aliens: Dead Orbit #3 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: If you like Aliens then getting this is a no-brainer!

Angel #7 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: Angel and Fred are in way over their heads on this one and if they aren’t careful, way underwater too!

Aquaman #26 (DC)
Arnab: All I’m saying is, ain’t nobody got time for a love triangle, so step off Dolphin. #Mera4Lyfe
Infinite Speech: Abnett and Sejic are a kick ass team taking Aquaman to the next level!

Astonishing X-Men #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: This book was awesome! And that reveal at the end?!? I’m 100% on board!
Infinite Speech: My skepticism is almost gone so I’ll be getting the next issue!

Batman #27 (DC)
Arnab: That was… surprisingly not a terrible story about an otherwise forgettable villain.
Martin: 4/5 stars. While the timing of this throw off the pacing of the “War of Jokes & Riddles,” I did like the background on Kite Man.
NickZ: A tragically, hilarious story that reminds me greatly of the “Joker’s Favor” episode of Batman the Animated Series.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #9 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: Powers or no, Buffy, Faith, and Willow are some bad ass women! That was one hell of a rescue!

Descender #22 (Image)
Arnab: As excited as I was for this to start, it ended up being better than expected.
NickZ: You damn, dirty Robots! Rise of the Robots is legit good!

Destroyer #3 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: Dr. Becker is taking vengeance to a new level in another great issue! LaValle has taken this classic monster in a direction that is remarkably new and socially relevant so you should get on board!

Doctor Strange #23 (Marvel)
NickZ: It’s the Defenders + Doctor Strange + the Kingpin + some crazy magic! What more could you want?

Green Arrow #27 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. An interesting team-up between fugitive GA & Wonder Woman, as well as between WW & Emiko Queen.

Green Lanterns #27 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A distant past setting allows artist Ronan Cliquet to create some really fun, interesting scenes.

Invincible #138 (Image)
NickZ: I feel like I’ve been punched in the heart by Thragg! I both hate him and love his badassary!

Justice League #25 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Some interesting conversation here with Batman & Molly about Rebirth & the Multiverse, but that’s about it.

Lazarus X+66 #1 (Image)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. An in-depth look at the Daggers’ rigorous training, focusing on Solomon Casey. Amazing art as always.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #17 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: There really is no downtime for the Rangers but this could be a jumping on point for new readers.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: If you love Spider-Man and comedy, then you must read this series, it’s amazing!

Secret Empire #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Still a solid series with several surprises.
NickZ: I love how everyone is coming face to face with their past failures, there is so much great character development going on!

Secret Weapons #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Heisserer is bringing you new characters worth reading about in another stellar Valiant title!

Sisters of Sorrow #1 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: A revenge tale that has an uneven pacing but it does draw you in and I’m picking up the second issue

Superb #1 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: This issue makes the familiar still fun and is yet another must buy in the Catalyst Prime line of titles!

Superman #27 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Basically a filler-issue of a family vacation. Almost “educational” in nature, but that’s not a bad thing.
NickZ: What a fun little family vacation celebrating “the American way”!

Super Sons #6 (DC)
Arnab: Jon is just the sweetest boy and Damian doesn’t deserve him, LOL.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Like Cruz & Baz in Green Lanterns, Jon & Damian’s relationship in this book is a fun read. Great art is a bonus!
NickZ: The Kents have a very liberal parenting style when it comes to Jon but it works and their family dynamic is amazing.

The Totally Awesome Hulk #21 (Marvel)
NickZ: Amadeus Cho is hilariously out of place with this bunch of unsavory individuals.

Trinity #11 (DC)
NickZ: Francis Manapul is killing it on this series especially considering he writes and did a lot of the art and colors too!

X-Men Gold #8 (Marvel)
NickZ: The X-Men suck if it took that many of them to take down the X-Cutioner.
