Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 02/24/16

Angela: Queen of Hel #5 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Marguerite Bennett should write Angela for as long as she wants! So is forever okay?

Batman & Robin Eternal #21 (DC)
Arnab: Man I’ve missed Tony Daniel’s art.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Tony Daniels art lifts this one up to a higher score. Otherwise, I’m really over this series.

Bloodshot Rblood shot 11eborn #11 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: I was not prepared for the bad news in this great issue but damn it was another good one!

Cyborg #8 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Great seeing Shazam and Cyborg together again! Seems unfair for the guys in the cliffhanger though.
Martin: 3.5/ 5 stars. Pros: A fun Cyborg & Shazam team-up. Cons: The story is choppy & the “danger” seems manufactured (no pun intended).

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #3 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I’d like more Bruce-Carrie interactions and less “religious extremism is bad!”

Faith #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Faith has a classic superhero feel that reminds you how great comics can be!

Flash #49 (DC)
Arnab: So either the police approved the Rogues to blow up a school wall or they just did it on their own. Either way, they’re useless.
Martin: 3/5 stars. The idea of the Rogues being deputized to hunt the Flash is intriguing, but the execution is not engaging at all.

Goddamned #3 (Image)
Infinite Speech: R.M. Guera makes this one brutal looking series and Aaron is seriously taking your Bible stories in a different direction!

Grayson #17 (DC)
Arnab: Singing Grayson is pretty much the best thing ever.

He-Man: The Eternity War #15 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Really hoping this isn’t the end of this series because it’s one of the most entertaining comic coming from DC right now.

Jem and the Holograms #12 (IDW)jl 48
Infinite Speech: Thompson and Campbell raise the stakes in the Dark Jem saga plus deliver another stellar issue!

Justice League #48 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. 1 of the best JL arcs we’ve seen lately. I like WW as narrator but I’d like to see her a little more involved

Kanan #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: A great issue but I guess it’s the new pattern to introduce a cool looking villain and then kill him off pretty fast. I blame Pepe Larraz for making the issue look so good!

Karnak #2 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Waited a long time for this but it was worth it!

Postal #10 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Postal is the thriller that you should be reading! Plus, this issue gives the term “Molly Whopped” a whole new meaning.

Saga #34 (Image)
Arnab: Can they just reunite already?

Spawn #261 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Not too much but more running in this issue but hopefully there’s a payoff with this cliffhanger.

Street Fighter x G.I. Joe #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: The title tells you what you need to know about this series.

Superman #49 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Somewhat inconsistent art but that matches the inconsistent story. Metallo moments were nice but without context.

Superman: Lois & Clark #5 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. So much going on w/ this series & each issue seems to add more. More saga 34“Superman” than the main titles.

Superman: The Coming of the Supermen #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The concept is fun, but execution is lacking. Hoping for more background details.

Superman/Wonder Woman #26 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Again the art is what helps the score. Otherwise, the story is very clunky and uninspiring.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #55 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This is what I’m talking about! Getting back to great storytelling and some danger in the lives of the Turtles!

Wayward #14 (Image)
Infinite Speech: The Wayward creative team knocks another one out of the park! This is just cover to cover greatness right here!

We Are Robin #9 (DC)
Infinite Speech: The bad guys are coming but I need more Robins face time in my We Are Robin comics.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. After “Robin War”, the story seems to be floundering. The likability of the main characters & the art save it.

X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I shouldn’t have laughed at that Sentinel kill…but I did. Loudly.
