Fire fighters routinely head directly into danger, so when a global disaster involving flaming demons threatens the world, you’ll need to form a new type of fire fighting organization. The Special Fire Force is just such an order. So what is the Special Fire Force and who fight the good fight? Let’s find out!

Centuries before the forming of the Special Fire Force, there was a catastrophic event worldwide that caused massive life loss, land reforming into smaller land masses, and new societies being formed. Just as things were feeling back to normal, the Spontaneous Human Combustion events began. People would burst into flames, becoming Infernals, demonic entities that could control flame and sought only chaos and destruction.

The Special Fire Force was formed by the Tokyo Army, the Fire Defense Agency, and the Holy Sol Temple. Each organization would bring their own perspective to dealing with Infernals to the table. There would be eight companies to protect Tokyo, each with their own unique outlook and method for dealing with and researching Infernals. Each company would have a captain, a lieutenant, soldiers, clergy members, researchers and engineers to help them deal with the Infernal threat.

While each company is meant to take care of their segment of Tokyo, these segments have varying levels of technology in their communities so while some may feel very modern, others are more traditional in their fire fighting techniques. Other locations are more religious so the clerical members are more prominent in tactics and in action. The military could have a higher influence in an area and make the company work more like a military unit than a fire fighting unit. While Special Fire Force is tasked with fighting Infernals and the fires they cause, there are still regular fire fighters who aide in stopping those fires as well as any routine fires that may occur.

Another aspect of the Special Fire Force is that while Infernals are the first generation of the Spontaneous Human Combustion phenomenon, second and third generation appear to be very human and in control of themselves. This allows Fire Force to recruit these individuals with pyrokinetic abilities. Whereas first generation, Infernals, can create fire, second generation can control fire, while third generation can both create and control fire. Second and third generation members go through strict training to use their abilities to aide in fighting first generation who have no control.

Though it is ideal that the Special Fire Force companies help fight and better understand what causes the Spontaneous Human Combustion phenomenon, there are concerns of corruption from within. This has gotten to a point where one company is not only investigating the phenomenon, but the Special Fire Force itself.
