The Amazing Spider-Man #680 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I couldn’t stop laughing at Johnny and Peter as Slott tied up events from ASM #653! All comics should be this fun to read!
Jeff: Did anyone notice how quickly Spidey and Torch got up to the space station, yet it seemed like the astronauts and the Horizon space program were from 1967? Doesn’t the FF share their technology?
NickZ: This was GREAT!! Spider-Man and Human Torch have never been written better!
Astonishing X-Men #47 (Marvel)
Jeff: A strong ending to a really strong run. Greg Pak and Mike McKone need to be on one of the flagship books…*coughuncannyxmencough.*
NickZ: Once again, Scott proves that when push comes to shove he can be a real bad ass!!!
Andy: That was cool alternate X-storyline. Eat your heart out, Exiles. B+
Avengers #23 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Norman Osborn just shoved his foot pretty far up the ass of the Avengers. Things just got real.
Andy: Wow. So. Good. That panel with Iron Man and Storm on p. 16 (of story) was absolutely killer. B+
Darkness #100 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Hester goes out with a bang as Jackie faces the Darkness and prepares the series for the next level!
FF #15 (Marvel)
Andy: Dragotta’s artwork is phenomenal. Looks like Franklin and Valeria are about to get the spotlight, and I’m cool with that. B+
Arnab: I’ve mentioned this before, but Franklin is my favorite character in the entire Fantastic Four family and it looks like he’s about ready to kick some major Celestial butt.
Fantastic Four #603 (Marvel)
Andy: The hype around the “death” of Johnny Storm has really cheapened this story since I don’t know what to believe anymore, emotionally. B
Invincible #89 (Skybound)
NickZ: What a HUGE change up to this book. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Also, Thragg is becoming one of my favorite characters.
Justice League #6 (DC)
Arnab: Eh, nothing particularly wow-ed me. We all knew the heroes would win, we just didn’t know how and this certain wasn’t anything new, shocking, or exciting. Pandora’s second-feature, that was fun.
Infinite Speech: FINALLY! Something happened and it was actually cool! Still don’t know why Batman took his mask off only to put it back on. Seemed pointless.
NickZ: Not the best start for the Justice League, but with Lee’s kick ass art work of Wonder Woman and co. beating on Darkseid, who am I to complain?
Kirby Genesis: Dragonsbane #2 (Dynamite)
Andy: A fun take on various mythologies like Norse, Greek and others, but definitely not for everyone. C+
Lord of the Jungle #2 (Dynamite)
Andy: Kind of boring, but I’m all in for the opening arc of any jungle adventure. C
New Avengers #22 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Is that a light at the end of the tunnel? Is that light’s name Skaar? Oh, and the guys from HALO show up to arrest the team.
Andy: As if it weren’t already awesome, the last page made it even more so! Such a great arc. A
Ralph Wiggum Comics #1 (Bongo)
Andy: Not as humorous as I was expecting, but still a fun read. Some solid cartoonists worked on this book. B-
Scalped #56 (Vertigo)
Andy: A change of pace that was highly unexpected, but also highly welcomed. Definitely didn’t see that coming and I have no clue what to expect come the end of this series finale! A+
Star Trek #6 (IDW)
Andy: Every Trek fan needs to read this book. The pacing is right on and it’s not gilding the lily, which could be easily done given the premise of the series. Excellently done. A
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro-Series: Donatello #1 (IDW)
Andy: Did you catch the reference to the TMNT: The Secret of the Ooze movie? Brian Lynch is making a strong case to continue writing the Turtles once this micro line is over. A+
Arnab: There’s really only one thing that needs to be said about this issue, it is as fantastic, as entertaining, and as awesome as the preivous issues in this micro-series.
Infinite Speech: Just as fun as the other two issues as Donnie gets to geek out and kick some shell at the same time!
T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #4 (DC)
Arnab: Heroes are being killed, kidnapped, and sacrificed as Nick Spencer’s best book blazes on. If you aren’t reading this, you should either go back and pick up the previous issues or get the collected book. Either way, this is not a book to be missed.
Ultimate Comics Ultimates #7 (Marvel)
Andy: Reed Richards as the big bad is cool, and I’m looking forward to Hulk wreaking havoc. Still a little lost as to how everything got to this point, however… C+
Ultimate Comics X-Men #8 (Marvel)
Andy: Aside from T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents over at DC, I am so not drinking the Nick Spencer kool-aid. D-
Uncharted #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I thought this could only get better. I was wrong.
Venom #13.4 (Marvel)
NickZ: The “Circle of Four” story continues to be rad. I hope when it’s all over Johnny Blaze gets to be Ghost Rider again.
Vescell #6 (Image)
Infinite Speech: This creative team just keeps giving you more than your money’s worth with each issue! Oh, and Machi’s shoe game is just ILL!
The Walking Dead #94 (Skybound)
Andy: Jesus is full of s**t. Just watch! B+
Arnab: I know it doesn’t really make sense to compare tv shows to comics, but comic book Carl could shred to pieces. In other news, awesome issue.
Jeff: It’s good to see Rick, Andrea, Glenn, and Michonne as a team. And I’m really enjoying this Jesus character (and don’t say, “Of course you do, you’re a priest!”).
NickZ: Jesus is freaking AWESOME!
Be sure to catch up on all past Chirps here!

@ Infinite Speech – Did you see where in Justice League #6 he put back on his cowl? Where did he find it? I’m so lost as to when all this happened and really took me out of the book since Lee wanted to do a close up of Batman.
Also, in the TMNT issue. Did anyone else notice the blatant bash of Stan Lee to Jack Kirby. Made that issue even better for me.
That entire sequence made NO SENSE at all! lol So is this a friendlier Batman when it comes to the JL and all dark and the same as before in his own books? It’s funny how something that seems so small can take you out of the story and it really did because it seemed so out of character.
Batman has been written terribly this whole arc, which further proves my point: Geoff Johns should not be writing Batman.
The funny thing is, if you think about it, between five years ago and present time I would think Batman would be more dark in the past and more friendly in the present. He goes from being a solo hero to a team player. It really makes very little sense.
I was completely taken out of the JL book by the scene of Batman putting his cowl back on. I kept thinking that I was missing a panel or something; it was ridiculous. I don’t know if it’s an editor thing or just laziness, but it was irritating.
As for ASM, I just started with that series, and now I need to find some back issues/trades to prepare for the EOTE arc that’s about to start.
