Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews! Here you can find out what we at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s new books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!
The Amazing Spider-Man #640 (Marvel)
Andy: I’m not a huge Spidey fan and I’m liking this arc. So what does that tell you?
Aron: WHOA! WTF is going on here!? Even I’m starting to get a little mad! Just a little.
Atlas #4 (Marvel)
Andy: This book is unexpectedly cool. The art is great and Jeff Parker is totally doing his thing.
Avengers Academy #3 (Marvel)
Andy: Why aren’t you reading this? Seriously, don’t judge a book by its cover. Think New X-Men Academy X but with Avengers.
Azrael #11 (DC)
Aron: The beautiful cover is gone, but the story will blow your mind! This is like some Dan Brown faith based conspiracy stuff! GET IT! READ AZRAEL!
Batman Beyond #3 (DC)
Andy: Ok, I was on the fence before but not anymore. Can’t wait to see what’s up with future Dick. (…that doesn’t sound right, does it?)
Andrew: Another GREAT chapter in this series. I just wish it weren’t only six issues long.
Batman Streets of Gotham #15 (DC)
Andy: Well that was an unexpected ending. If it’s a “fake out” though, I’ll be pissed.
Andrew: Beautiful art, just not sure I care where this new story with Two Face is going.
The Boys: Highland Laddie #1(Dynamite)
Andy: A snooze fest. It seems like this mini would make more sense if it came out AFTER the current ‘Boys’ story arc. Hopefully things pick up in #2.
Brightest Day #8 (DC)
Andy: Hey, what happened to the rings? Just when things were heating up…
Andrew: Bleh…the Hawkman and Hawkgirl segment in Brightest Day is my LEAST favorite.
Chew #13 (Image)
Andy: My favorite arc so far just got even better! The best dark comedy on the shelves, no doubt.
Darkwing Duck #3 (BOOM!)
Andy: Negaduck! YES!!!
Aron: Maybe this should have stayed as a 4 issue mini. I’m starting to lose the love.
DC Universe Legacies #4 (DC)
Andrew: What started out as an interesting story about the history of the DCU is kinda turning into a boring documentary.
Deadpool #26 (Marvel)
Andy: Ghostrider fans, READ IT!
DV8: Gods and Monsters #5 (Wildstorm)
Andy: Things are really heating up with this one, and only now, after this issue, am I really hooked.
Decapitated Dan: No matter what he did 10 years ago or now, Evo can never win. Loving seeing this cast again.
Fables #97 (Vertigo)
Andy: This story arc has been the best one since the Great Fables Crossover started over a year ago. We’re finally getting back to the good stuff!
Finding Nemo #2 (BOOM!)
Aron: This is a good one for the kiddos. Would be good material for a Saturday morning series, too!
G.I. Joe/Cobra #7 (IDW)
Andy: A great one-shot story. Maybe we should introduce Croc Master to some B.P. execs.
G.I. Joe: Origins #18 (IDW)
Andy: Zartan is back bitches!!
Green Lantern Corps. #51 (DC)
Andy: Damn, this issue was ballsy! I think more Lanterns died in this one issue than in all of Blackest Night put together.
Harlan Ellison’s Phoenix Without Ashes #1 (IDW)
Andy: What’s more ridiculous: A god that’s a machine controlled by man or a god that’s invisible made up by man? You decide.
Hellblazer #270 (Vertigo)
Aron: A great conclusion to such an effed up, trippy storyline! I love this book! Who doesn’t love this book!?
Hulk #24 (Marvel)
Andrew: Holy crap, I wish every issue of Hulk comics were like this! So much action!
Andy: What started out awkward and weird has ended on a good note. The conclusion to World War Hulks has me excited for what’s next!
Aron: Okay. With that, I’m done. FINALLY!
The Light #5 (Image)
Andy: A pretty lame ending to a nice looking series.
Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher #2 (Marvel)
Andrew: I wish this were a movie. I love this concept.
Andy: If I were Frank Castle, I think Deadpool would have driven me insane by now.
New Mutants #16 (Marvel)
Andy: Somebody needs to go back and read INFERNO. This guy!
Jeff: So THAT’S what happened to those mutant babies from Inferno!
The New Avengers #3 (Marvel)
Andy: I like the story, but why the F does EVERYONE have to deliver witty banter? Enough already!
Pale Horse #3 (BOOM! Studios)
Andy: What started out as a solo revenge story has become more centralized around The Civil War. It’s great!
Power Girl #15 (DC)
Andy: Sooooooo when are Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti coming back onto this title? Huh? Not any time soon? Well damn…I guess this will have to do then.
Secret Avengers #4 (Marvel)
Andy: Open up your issue to page 7 of the story. Have you ever seen bigger titties on a man before than those DDD’s that Cap is sporting? Yowza!
Jeff: I’m done with this book. If I wanted mediocre Avengers stories, I would pick up some pre-Bendis back issues.
Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Colleen Wing is fluckucking HOT! Sign me up on this one!
Aron: This is probably the best Shadowland tie-in yet! And Colleen Wing is a fox! An ass kicking fox! Hot-cha-cha!
Shadowland: Power Man #1 (Marvel)
Andy: I didn’t expect much and was pleasantly surprised. I’m liking this new guy!
Aron: Artist has his timeline jacked up. The Hand doesn’t wear those jammies anymore. Story has my attention, though.
The Sixth Gun #3 (Oni Press)
Andy: This series has been awesome since #1. A supernatural western with colorful and detailed art that pulls you in and doesn’t let go!
Supergirl #55 (DC)
Andy: Never read this series until this story arc, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it! If things continue down this road, Supergirl may have a new fan.
Andrew: Bizarro Supergirl is hott…I don’t care if you judge me.
Thunderbolts #147 (Marvel)
Andy: I’m into this series. Great character moments here- especially when Luke Cage kicked some ASS!!
Uncanny X-Men #527 (Marvel)
Andy: A whiny Asian Colossus + a lame 5 lights character + choppy dialogue + shoddy art = a big let down.
Aron: Weird.
Jeff: How can I capture how I feel about this run in a simple chirp? Uncanny Crap.
Usagi Yojimbo #1 for $1 (Dark Horse)
Aron: Usagi has always been a badass. This gives the reader blue gonads, though, because there won’t be a #2 for $1. Dammit.
Wolverine: Weapon X #16 (Marvel)
Andy: A great send off to Kurt and a nice set up for when Wolverine goes to Hell!
Jeff: Wolverine meets The Mission. Would Robert DeNiro make a decent Wolverine?

In regards to the DV8 Storyline. I don’t really know how accessible it is to newer readers. While I know about DV8, and how they were the bad kids, I mean they started as Gen13 Villains. So I don’t know if people take that into account or even know it going into the series. I am actually kinda put off by Copycat not switching personalities yet as she recalls what happened. But it as awesome to see Matthew be Matthew last time, and in this weeks issue Evo still being kicked around by the rest.
Colleen Wing!
@jeff- You a hereby kicked out of Avengers Mansion. Do not return for any reason. Oh, and if you want to read something mediocre…try Uncanny X-Men. 😀
Isn’t X-Men Forever mediocre enough Billy?
