CREEPY #3

Sometimes there is nothing like kicking back, cracking open some beer, putting on some sweet jams like Gogol Bordello and reading an issue of Creepy. I am sincerely enjoying Dark Horse’s relaunch of one of the greatest horror anthology comics to arrive on stands and with issue #3, they keep cracking out the fun.
The first story we hit is X-Change, with a script by Dan Braun and art by Dennis Calero. Script-wise the story is a gruesome tale of the atrocities committed in the labs of Nazi Germany. The story builds up as two government agents interview an old lady, who may have had more to do with the horrible dings back in the day than most think. We are left though with a cliffhanger which will apparently pick up next issue. Art-wise the story is in tip-top shape, with a great vibe provided by the pen of Calero.
Next up is Pelted, with a script by Doug Moench and art by Angelo Torres. Here Moench pens the story of a gangster who gets a mysterious tattoo which keeps evolving as murders take place. Loved the twist at the end here.
Then we get part 3 of The Curse written by Joe Harris, with art by Jason Shawn Alexander, which provided a nice tie up to this story. The thing I loved the most about this tale is the artwork; it was hands down stellar by Jason Shawn, so high fives all the way to him, and I look forward to seeing what else he can cook up visually on other stories.
The 4th story in we get Maquiladora written by Cody Goodfellow with art Kevin Ferrera, who spin an enjoyable tale of a zombie sweatshop that’s tucked away.
In the 5th story we get Loathsome Lore with a script by Braun, Gore and Haffner, with art by Greg Scott. It’s a short 2-pager letting us know all about werewolf-soliders: it’s short, sweet and actually for this issue, my favorite one for this time round.
The final entry for this issue is a reprint of a classic Creepy tale titled The Disintegrator by Nicola Cuti, wth art by Ken Barr, which tells the tale of a man who apparently builds a disintegrator gun: classic, with a surprise twist.
All these awesome tales were released Wednesday in Creepy #3; and hey, look at that gorgeously bizarre cover, you gotta buy it just for that alone! Check it out now!

Omg I love these old school style horror books!
Yeah, wish I could get these…I love that they have taken over this great title…all those Warren mags had such incredible work in them (some substandard stuff too, but not a huge amount)…I have such a soft spot for that company in general.
