Hello and welcome to another (if very short) installment of your source for fanzine enjoyment, Ink Stains! 163 installments, can you believe it??? By the way, you can see the following issue of this fanzine here, if you are interested, way back in Ink Stains 13.

As you could see from the following issue, this fanzine focuses very much on visuals, primarily EC and EC inspired artists. Several from this issue appear in the following issue, including Berni Wrightson, Roy Krenkel, and Kenneth Smith. Big guns! Unfortunately, in this issue, the guns are mostly tiny derringers, in the form of small and/or quick sketches. But, still, a nice glimpse into history.

There are two articles only in this slim zine, one focusing on artist Reed Crandall (by editor Veilleux), while the other by Meade Frierson III examines EC comics (specifically, some similarities between selected EC stories and previously existing texts).

And…that is about it! I will show a few of the illustrations below, but feel free to check out the whole issue in it’s entirety in pdf form in the Ink Stains section on my site here.

This piece, inked by Tony Salmons, appeared in another fanzine.

Well…that was brief! Check out the pdf and I hope to see you next month with an assuredly longer installment! Thanks to Manny Maris for the zine to scan!

I have been a working artist all my life, and lived many places (and had many jobs). Some clients include comic companies such as Marvel, Image, and Caliber, gaming companies such as White Wolf, Wizards of the Coast (and many more), and reams of general clients in many fields. Fun activities include tennis, too many movies and waaaaay too many cds.
