Batman Annual #4 (DC)
Martin: 5/5 stars. A narration of the diary Alfred keeps of Batman’s day-by-day exploits as he saves Gotham, the planet, or an elderly woman who wandered away from her caretakers. Great Silver Age touches (Bat-Rocket FTW!) & great insight into Alfred.
Batman & the Outsiders Annual #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Katana and Black Lighting are the perfect duo I never knew I wanted until Brian Hill started writing them. Best team building exercise and a look into what has shaped Katana’s life and actions. Definite worth picking up.
Martin: 4/5 stars. A great 1-off story focusing on the mutual respect & friendship between Black Lightning & Katana, that often gets overshadowed in the main series due to the multiple characters and action-oriented story.
Black Panther #17 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: So did Storm just give T’Challa away and is it because of what’s happening on Krakoa? Either way things are getting messy in a good way as the Klyntark (symbiote) is looking to bring back his host body on Wakanda Prime!
Bloodshot #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Valiant continues to bring the heat with Bloodshot!
Excalibur #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Not too sure about this one as it centers on a perfect mix of characters I like and those I could care less about.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #13 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: You can’t go wrong with a FF and Spidey team up!
Harleen #2 (DC Black)
Infinite Speech: Sejic knocks it out the park again as he gives us a riveting Harley Quinn origin story.
Ironheart #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Riri just might have met her “dead” father and this Wakandan team-up is playing out better than expected thantks to Ewing and Vecchio!
Kick-Ass #18 (Image)
Infinite Speech: OKAY! This one has it all and a cliffhanger that we knew had to happen eventually! Good luck Patience!
The Last God #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Great debut of a creator-owned fantasy title, with spectacular painted art by Riccardo Federici. Lots of world-building & character introductions, but the plot advances quickly by issue’s end. I’m hooked for at least #2.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #44 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: BOOM! has made me a huge fan of the Power Rangers with this series and if they keep putting out issues like this that won’t change!
Roku #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: My favorite Ninkak character gets her own series and I’m fully on board! Nice way to kick things off here!
Savage Avengers Annual #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Conan is such a respectable barbarian and this done in one story should lead to more issues for the team down the line. Great team up with Hellstrom and Black Widow.
Superior Spider-Man #12 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: That took longer than I thought but now I’m not sure if I want to see this character at all. Guess time will tell.
Tales from the Dark Multiverse: The Death of Superman #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Well that was a complete waste of my time. Murder Lois makes a huge mistake but at least the story looked good.
Martin: 1/5 stars. Lois Lane become super-murderer because other heroes “let Superman die.” Nope – not who Lois is at all. I like the IDEA of “Tales from the Dark Multiverse” but so far they haven’t made any sense.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #99 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Everything is coming together and there’s even a connection to Shredder in Hell! Can’t wait to see how it all plays out in issue #100!
Venom #19 (Marvel)
Infintie Speech: What the @#$! is Dylan and why does is he creeping out a symbiote?! Oh, and never try a fastball special with Spider-Man when you have a perfectly good Wolverine right there.
Wonder Woman Annual #3 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The Diana segments in this story were really good, but the characterization of Steve Trevor was a bit off, and the complete 180 that one of the new characters makes by the end of the issue comes out of nowhere.
