Action Comics #41 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Pak & Kuder’s Action was my favorite pre-Convergence Supes book – & they’re still delivering w/ this new arc.
All-New X-Men #41 (Marvel)
Arnab: Yay Elixir is back.
Infinite Speech: I remember when I really liked this title. Oh, and Jean is just still casually strolling in people’s minds.
NickZ: These Utopians seem like a very odd group to suddenly be teamed up, and isn’t Elixir dead? In any event, I’m sad to see Bendis go.
The Amazing Spider-Man #18.1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Am I the only guy who appreciates a Fancy Dan appearance?
NickZ: Conway and Barberi are doing a great job on this point one story. I love the interactions between Felicia and Peter and the art is great too!
The Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Something for those fans that really want Pete w/ M.J. but nothing beyond that.
NickZ: Dan Slott has done it again! This was a very shocking and awesome twist on Spidey and with Adam Kubert’s art, you can’t go wrong!
Angel & Faith #15 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: Angel and Fred have a fun little adventure together that ends with a hilarious phone exchange between Angel and Spike.
Batman Beyond #1 (DC)
Arnab: Not a bad start, but nothing particularly gripping.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. A solid introduction to the new status quo of Batman Beyond & his integration into the mainstream DC universe.
NickZ: Jurgens and Chang crafted an interesting new take on BB with a lot of great surprises! To be honest, I’m just happy to have Tim Drake in his own book again!
Bat-Mite #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Kudos to DC for a rated “Everyone” title. Lots of fun with some inside jokes for adults & good art.
NickZ: It was cute and it was funny but i’ve seen better of both.
Big Man Plans #3 (Image)
Infinite Speech: HOLY $#!% this issue is fantastic and will make you rethink your next dentist appointment!
Bizarro #1 (DC)
Martin: 5/5 stars. Yep, I went 5-stars. This is just so much fun and the art is absolutely perfect. Great for kids & adults. Pure win.
NickZ: Bizarro’s backward stuff am gonna get real young, real slow.
Darth Vader #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Gillen should have been on a Vader title long before this!
NickZ: I love seeing a different dynamic between the Emperor and Vader and I really love how much this issue tied into and enhanced Star Wars #6.
Dead Drop #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Another solid one from Valiant!
Death Vigil #7 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Seven issues and each has been better than the last. You should be reading this!
Giant-Size Little Marvel AvX #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This was THE BEST thing to come out of AvX and I’m glad it’s back.
NickZ: I need a monthly version of this book! Skottie Young is king! Too much fun stuff going on here!
Imperium #5 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Harada is one of my new favorite villains and makes this series a must read every issue. But I need more Sunlight on Snow!
Justice League #41 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Great issue and a much needed pallet cleanser after Convergence but what happened to Flash?!?!
Martin: 5/5 stars. This looks like the JL story I’ve been waiting for. Great seeing Wonder Woman w/ a bigger role. Fantastic art.
NickZ: This is how you do a Justice League story! I loved the re-introduction of Mister Miracle and how bad ass is Grail?! I can’t wait for the next issue!
Midnighter #1 (DC)
Arnab: This was fantastic.
Martin: 5/5 stars. Well-written for those not familiar w/ the character, but the fight scene layouts are difficult to follow.
Omega Men #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. A bit difficult to follow with just one reading but great art and it does reward a second read.
Princess Leia #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: Leia’s guilt and compassion are gonna cost her.
Secret Wars #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Strange delivers a harsh reality to Reed & Miles shows up! So yeah, I’m really digging this event so far!
NickZ: Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic continue to make one of the best comic book events…EVER! I love everything about this series.
Secret Wars Battleworld #2 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: David Walker made me enjoy a story w/ Howard the Duck and included the best line from the first Blade movie. This was fun!
NickZ: Howard the Duck and Blade battle a duck version of Dracula! What else do you need to know?
Spider-Woman #8 (Marvel)
NickZ: Jessica gets her ass kicked by an Ellen Ripley knock off! Ben Urich is still the best.
Star Wars #6 (Marvel)
NickZ: This was the best issue of the series so far! A blind Luke Skywalker battles Boba Fett and a bomb shell is dropped about Han Solo that has the fan boys up in arms.
Swords of Sorrow #2 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: Gave it shot and now I’m on board!
The Cat With A Really Big Head HC (Titan)
Infinite Speech: There’s plenty of writers in comics that can make you laugh but none do it like Roman Dirge.
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #6 (Marvel)
NickZ: I am loving Squirrel Girl’s new “superhero” gang that has assembled. This series just gets better and better.
The Wicked + The Divine #11 (Image)
Arnab: Holy shit on a pedestal, Persephone!
NickZ: What the F*** just happened?!? I can’t even..
Wolverines #20 (Marvel)
NickZ: This was the worst ending ever! So much set up and suffering wasted with absolutely no pay off. Ugh, should I even be surprised?
Wonder Woman Annual #1 (DC)
NickZ: Finch and Finch make for a dynamite team! Wonder Woman schools everyone on what it is to be a Queen, an Amazon, and most importantly, a sister!
The Woods #13 (Boom!)
NickZ: The Woods picks up one year later and our characters are faced with new hope, new drama, and a deadly new threat! What a perfect way to start the new year!
X-Tinction Agenda #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: It’s like you never left this event and it’s looking bad for mutants everywhere.
NickZ: Guggenheim and Di Giandomenico really nailed the look and feel of this era of the X-Men! Another great Secret Wars gem!
Years of Future Past #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Nice visit to a favorite time in X-Men history but I’m confused as to what Wolverine’s son’s powers are!
NickZ: Not gonna lie, this was one of the X-Books I was most looking forward to, and it was a let down. It wasn’t horrible, just nowhere near the level of the other X-Men Secret Wars books.
