Adventure Time #40 (Boom!)
NickZ: There is a reference to “Forgot about Dre” in this issue. That is all you need to know.
All-New Hawkeye #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: This issue was a little bit boring in places but Kate shows what a badass she is and it had an awesome cover!
Chew #49 (Image)
Arnab: If you don’t read this series, your opinion is invalid.
Infinite Speech: I didn’t read this issue. Don’t be like me. Read this issue.
NickZ: No other series does easter eggs better than Chew! Even this cover connects with 3 other covers that aren’t even in order.
Convergence #8 (DC)
Arnab: So what exactly was the point of all that?
Infinite Speech: So ALL of that was just so DC could go back to being pre New 52? Well, at least The Darkseid War looks promising.
Martin: 3/5 stars. If ever there were a comic to use as a bad example of “show, don’t tell” this is it. All the “action” is written.
NickZ: I don’t see how anything has changed. This was the worst DC event ever and they’ve had some pretty s*** ones.
Convergence: Action Comics #2 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Love that this “continues” in a comic that came out 2 weeks ago. Bad timing & not enough focus.
Convergence: Blue Beetle #2 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Tightly written story that capitalizes on the humorous aspects of Blue Beetle w/out going full camp.
Convergence: Booster Gold #2 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Tries to do too much. Time travel stories are already inherently confusing & this story doesn’t help.
Convergence: Crime Syndicate #2 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Some nice art that tries to capture the spirit of the Silver Age, but the story’s not compelling.
Convergence Detective Comics #2 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. Almost like a different creative team from issue #1. No drama, characters acting irrationally.
NickZ: This actually made me want to read Superman Red Son.
Convergence: Infinity, Inc. #2 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. Fight scenes are very hard to follow & ultimately not that interesting. I don’t like whiny heroes.
Convergence: Justice Society #2 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. While mostly just 1 big battle, it was so great seeing these Golden Age heroes in action again.
Convergence: Plastic Man #2 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. So many narration boxes that it gets in the way of the art, & not enough focus on Plastic Man himself.
Convergence Shazam! #2 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. This works because it almost ignores the whole Convergence contrivance to focus on character, story, & art
NickZ: One of the better Convergence tie-ins, Parker and Shaner made me care about Shazam for the first time.
Deadly Class #13 (Image)
NickZ: Remender and Craig lured me into a false sense of security and then proceeded to punched me right in the gut! a
Divinity #4 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This series is fantastic and worth every moment!
Fight Club 2 #1 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: So, I liked this issue more than I did the movie.
NickZ: It’s everything you want it to be! Tyler lives! #RizeorDie
He-Man: The Eternity War #6 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This event has been better than DC’s Convergence. Let that sink in for a minute.
Inferno #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The problem w/ anniversary attacks is that the enemy KNOWS YOU’RE COMING!!
NickZ: A fun mix of Inferno and X-Force! So many great little cameos too.
Infinity Gauntlet #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Now THIS is off to a great start and I’m going to stick around for a while!
Inhumans Attilan Rising #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: This was nothing like I expected but way awesome anyway! I love the odd parings of characters, so much fun!
Invincible #120 (Image)
NickZ: Invincible is hands down Robert Kirkman’s best series. Ryan Ottley flawlessly draws the sweetest fatherhood sequence ever AND the most blood-soaked battle ever, all in the same issue!
Ivar, Timewalker #5 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This just keeps getting better and better with each issue! Time travel should be always be this fun!
M.O.D.O.K. Assassin #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Yost and Pinna made the most perfectly ridiculous book you can imagine about a giant, robot, floating head, assassin, thingy.
Old Man Logan #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: One of my favorite Wolverine stories is back and it’s still good. Let’s keep it that way Bendis!
NickZ: Bendis and Sorrentino took a beloved, classic story and made it even better! It is simply amazing.
Outcast #9 (Image)
NickZ: This book was too fast of a read. I need more answers and I need them now!
The Powerpuff Girls Super Smash-Up #5 (IDW)
NickZ: This was a really fun series! A must read for any fan of the OG Cartoon Network shows.
Secret Wars Journal #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: The X-Men team up with Moon Knight to fight Man-Wolves in Egypt and it is as awesome as it sounds! Also, there is a great Young Avengers story too!
Secret Wars 2099 #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Peter David put so much fun/crazy things into this book! A must read for 2099 fans.
Sex #21 (Image)
NickZ: This issue had so much going on, but Joe Casey and Piotr Kowalski didn’t make any of it feel rushed or take away any of the momentum from each of the sub-plots.
Sons of the Devil #1 (Image)
NickZ: I went into this series blind, not knowing about the kickstarter or the short film and I found it awesome! I can’t wait to see where it goes and it’s gonna be hard not to watch the film for spoilers.
Suiciders #4 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Fantastic art, a great story, and I don’t think it’s going to end well for anyone involved.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #46 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Always check the back seat! Mutant greatness from the talented creative team that keeps delivering issue after issue!
Wayward #8 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Wayward is the title you should be reading because it’s that damn good!
NickZ: Things seem to be coming together and we are getting a feel for these characters as they are getting a feel for each other. I can do without the dirt spiders tho.
