50 Girls 50 #4 (Image)
Andy: Not a bad ending, but clearly more is on the way. This would make a great popcorn flick.

Action Comics #1 (DC)
Andrew: I’m liking this new Superman a lot. I can’t wait to see where Grant Morrison takes us!
Andy: I hate Superman. Absolutely loathe him. Yet, I LOVED this issue! Great new take on the character by Grant Morrison. Glad I picked it up!
NickZ: The costume is really lame, and the story was just ok. I guess I’ll stick around for the next one, GD.

Animal Man #1 (DC)
Andrew: I’m in love with this darker, weirder tone! You wouldn’t expect such a C-list character to always have amazing creators surrounding him.
Andy: YES! This was everything I wanted it to be an more. This is the old school Vertigo Animal Man. My favorite #1 this week- READ IT!
Infinite Speech: Not bad and the intro was great but I still don’t care enough about the character to continue.

Batgirl #1 (DC)
Andrew: I love Barbra, and I love Gail Simone, but this wasn’t exactly the first issue I was hoping it would be.
Andy: So that’s how Babs can walk again? Ooookay. Sure. Whatever. The art was gorgeous, I just wish we had more explanation for her revival of the cape and cowl.
Arnab: This was a good start, not a great one though. A lot is left unanswered, unmentioned even. My biggest problem is that Barbara sounds really young, like teenager young.
NickZ: So Barbara traded all her great character traits to the sea witch for some working legs? Lame.

Batwing #1 (DC)
Andy: The surprise read of the week for me. I had very low expectations and walked away in awe. Definitely in my top 3 from this week’s new #1’s.
Infinite Speech: Nice start, but really want to see the character not just be the black version of Batman. Oh and it looks like Batwing is only the Batman of a country IN Africa DC.
NickZ: A pretty good start and a bit more gruesome than I expected.

The Big Lie #1 (Image)
Andy: Pretty much what you would expect with this issue. Some valid points were raised, but nobody who reads comics was probably listening.

Cobra #4 (IDW)
Andy: IDW’s relaunch of the G.I. Joe franchise continues to impress, killing off Joes left and right. This issue is no exception!

Detective Comics #1 (DC)
Andrew: The rebooted Batman is off to a great start! And anything with the Joker is always worth reading.
Andy: Um, did they really do that to his face? Seriously!? That’s freakin’ nasty.
Arnab: And the creepiest book of the week goes to… That’s right, this book is a freak fest and I love it.
NickZ: This made no sense to me. When does this take place? Is it like Batman year two?

Executive Assistant: Iris #3 (Aspen)
Andy: Damn. That is messed up.
Infinite Speech: Iris finally shows up and does something in her own book! Too bad for the girl who got decapitated because of it.

Fear Itself Wolverine #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: A pretty good Wolverine min-series, had nothing to do with Fear Itself, but cool none the less.

Green Arrow #1 (DC)
Andy: It’s nice to see J.T. Krul write Ollie without being handcuffed by Brightest Day, and while the art wasn’t as clean as what we’re used to, I liked its grit.
Arnab: This was a decent start, but I can’t be the only one wondering how much of the Green Arrow realm has changed and how much has stayed the same, can I? Who are those two sidekicks and where’s Mia and Connor?

Hawk & Dove #1 (DC)
Andrew: Ugh! Can’t believe I pais $2.99 for that. Though laughing at Rob Liefeld’s art was fun.
Andy: A well done first issue by the creative team. I’m interested. Oh, and was Hank beating on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the beginning?

Heroes For Hire #11 (Marvel)
Andy: Yeah, I tried checking back in… couldn’t finish it.
Infinite Speech: When does Villians for Hire start?

Hulk #40 (Marvel)
Andy: I’ve been loving Parker’s run on this title, but this issue got a little too technical for me. Hardman’s artwork is phenomenal, as usual.

Justice League International #1 (DC)
Andrew: Might as well have been titled Booster Gold #1. You wont miss out on anything by skipping this one.
Andy: Jurgens has done a good job with this cast right out of the gate. Now I just hope for team consistency and a non-rotating cast.
NickZ: I had high hopes for this series, they got the right cast except they need to add Blue Beetle. The jury is still out on the writing, though.

Men of War #1 (DC)
Andrew: Very good script. A lot of questions I want answers too. Can’t wait for #2.
Andy: I was expecting a lot more. Kind of a disappointment, but not terrible.

Moon Knight #5 (Marvel)
Andy: Maleev killed this issue. The full page shot where Knight is soaring away from the cops. Amazing.

Morning Glories #12 (Image)
Jeff: Spencer and Eisma are crafting excellent new characters who not only further the layered storyline, but keep you guessing as to who is altruistic and who will murder you in your sleep.

Mystic #2 (CrossGen)
Andy: Marvel needs to make this an ongoing pronto. It’s light and fun, but most importantly- the ladies love it!

New Avengers Annual #1 (Marvel)
Andy: This Annual was actually relevant to continuity. Great stuff here- from the art to the story. A nice jumping-on point for this book, too.
Infinite Speech: The entire issue was one long, ass kicking fight that looked fantastic thanks to Dell’otto’s artwork! WM was even a tiny bit cool this issue.

O.M.A.C. #1 (DC)
Andrew: Nice homage to Jack Kirby! I just with it had a story…
Andy: If you’re a Jack Kirby fan, you will rejoice with this issue! Otherwise, it may not be your thing, but it’s still enjoyable, especially the art.

Punisher #3 (Marvel)
Andy: Nooo! I’m actually invested in a non-MAX Punisher series. Damn you Greg Rucka!

Red Skull #3 (Marvel)
Andy: If you read Magneto Testament, this is your sequel. If you didn’t read Magneto Testament, this is your prequel.

Spawn #211 (Image)
Andy: You get your $2.99 worth with this book. Old Spawn fans who drifted away, come back now!
Infinite Speech: You have got to be reading this series! The slow build was well worth it and the art syncs up perfectly with the script!

Spider-Island: The Avengers #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Chris Yost does his best NextWave impression. The goofyness worked, but where was Peter Parker?

Spider-Island: I <3 New York City #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Dudes, there’s a Spider-Cat now. I shit you not.

Static Shock #1 (DC)
Andrew: Not a bad issue, but I doubt it will make anyone huge Static fans.
Andy: I wasn’t expecting much and I came out expecting a lot from #2. This issue had depth and it has my attention.
Infinite Speech: I’d like to think McDuffie woul be very happy with this. Good first issue and that last page was great! How do you come back from that?

Stormwatch #1 (DC)
Andy: A cool introduction to this new squad and how they fit in to the new DCU. But *SPOILER ALERT* Martian Manhunter is also a member of the League?
Infinite Speech: I would have lauged if the moon was giving Earth the finger instead of the menacing claws! Great introductory issue!

Swamp Thing #1 (DC)
Andrew: AMAZING! Maybe the best read of the week! Deep, thoughtful and interesting.
Andy: Like Animal Man, this was a successful transition of this character into the new DC Universe, but still staying true to his old school roots. Snyder’s run looks very promising.
Arnab: This was the only DC book I plan on picking up that I haven’t already been following and boy did I make a good choice. This issue was fantastic all around: story, dialogue, art, all great.

Sweet Tooth #25 (Vertigo)
Andy: Considering what a great job he did on Animal Man #1 this week, creator Jeff Lemire did it right by making this issue a jump on point for new readers.

Thunderbolts #163 (Marvel)
Andy: I wasn’t sure why Cap and Namor were on the cover, and I was worried, but then their reason for being there was revealed, and I realized I should never doubt Jeff Parker.
Infinite Speech: This series is better than most of the marque books from Marvel!

Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris (Dynamite)
Andy: Seriously, how does Dejah Thoris not get raped on a daily basis? Do you see what she’s wearing on the cover? She ALWAYS wears that!

Wolverine #15 (Marvel)
Andy: I like that Aaron is forcing Logan to feel the fallout of what he learned last issue… but Wolverine should never cry. Seriously.
Jeff: Talk about guilt? Try climbing a mountain and throwing yourself off a few times.
NickZ: A great look into Logan’s mind after the terrible revelation from last issue.

Wolverine Debt of Death #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Wolverine, Robots, and Nick Fury! What more do you need to know?

X-23 #14 (Marvel)
Arnab: This is one of the X-books no one seems to be reading, but is consistently great from issue to issue. Laura mixing it up with the Future Foundation? Totally awesome.
NickZ: This arc does not go with X’s story so far, it’s just a shameless reason to have the FF guest star in the book.

X-Factor #224.1 (Marvel)
Andy: A well done .1 issue. If you haven’t been reading X-Factor, pick up this issue to see what the buzz is about. It’s consistently one of the top 3 X-titles.
Arnab: This here is another one of those excellent  X-books people seem to be passing up. You’re all wrong for doing so. The cast is great, the writing is smart, and the art is gorgeous.
Jeff: Now THIS is what a .1 issue is supposed to do…introduce new readers to what’s going on and set up the next story arc. Excellent work PAD!
NickZ: Probably the best point one book that I’ve read so far.

X-Men #17 (Marvel)
Andy: I smell poopy.
Arnab: Have I mentioned lately that the FF are everywhere? Because they are. Everywhere.
Jeff: I feel like I should care about this book because of the enormity of the X-Men & the FF teaming up, but I really don’t.
NickZ: I love Dr. Doom, he is so awesome.
