Moving to a new town and attending a new school is tough, and I know from experience. Now, being a good football player helps, but when the position you play is taken at your new school, that complicates things. Luckily for Greg, though, the star running back was eviscerated by some animal. As we move ever so deeper into the real world of Marcellus High School, we are finding out that nothing is was it seems. Oh, you do have the stereotypical bush party complete with a bonfire, a barrel, and don’t forget the red and blue lights from the cops ready to bust you, either! It seems that there are some key people taking quite an interest in Greg, and by that I mean more than his new girlfriend’s father who happens to be the chief of police.
Greg’s sister Annie seems to be making new friends all the time, and it almost seems like there may be a sinister motive behind it. All the cheerleaders and football players think she’s great, but Greg is worried about her. His new love interest is smart, funny, and gorgeous, too, but with her father being chief of police, that kind of complicates things slightly. Greg and his new girl decide that they are going to pay a visit to the school’s resident creepy, quiet, serial killer-looking kid one night. They don’t find him at home at first, but he makes an entrance later. One they’ll never forget.
Issue #1 of this series was good, even though it threw a lot of information and characters at you. Now in issue #2, we have a firm grasp on the characters and the setting, and Mike Raicht dialed up the mystery and action in this one. Daniel Faccilongo’s artwork is very suitable for this book. He does a fine job, especially with the werewolf! There wasn’t anything that was confusing or sloppy, and I really feel like he was a great choice for this book. All in all, I’m glad I decided to check this book out. It’s been a fresh take on the werewolf side of things, and hopefully it will turn into something more in the near future. Rating 3.5/5
