Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 03/25/15

Amazing X-Men #18 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This issue was actually funny but I just wasn’t a fan of the art.

Batman & Robin #40 (DC)
Arnab: I would have loved to see his powers stay with him into the new Robin series.
Infinite Speech: Well, the super powered Damian thing didn’t last too long. Still a good issue.
Martin: 4/5 stars. It’s fun to see Robin interacting with the Justice League, but the emotional stuff is between Bruce & Damian.

Batman Eternal #51 (DC)
Arnab: What a pity. Dude didn’t even get 15 seconds, let alone 15 minutes of fame.
Martin: 4/5 stars. The “true” villain is revealed… or IS he? It’ll be interesting to see how this wraps up in just 1 issue.

Chew #47 (Ichew 47mage)
Arnab: Poor Tony. Poor, poor Tony.

Curb Stomp #2 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: A pretty solid issue but not as good as the first one.

Darth Vader #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: There’s levels to this Sith and they’re all pretty good! If you’re a fan then read this series!

Earth 2 World’s End #25 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The last few issues have been decent but this one falls a bit flat. Darkseid’s return is underwhelming

Elektra #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: One of the best Elektra runs in a long time thanks to Blackman and Del Mundo!

Flash #40 (DC)
Arnab: A tiny bit bummed about Patty, but so much more excited/hopeful for Barry/Iris.
Infinite Speech: A little too predictable but still pretty fun nonetheless!
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. A semi-timid end to an arc that had a lot of promise. The art is strong but the story needed some more “oomph.”

G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, Agent of Cobra #3 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: I want to like this series but something just isn’t working for me here.

Gotham by Midnight #5 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Lots of mystical, creepy stuff happening with an emotional ending to this arc, & awesome Templesmith art.

He-Man: The Eternity War #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Wow! Who would have thought that Skeletor showing up would be good news?!

Hit: 1957 #1 (Boom! Studios)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Strong art & an appropriately pulpy noir crime story, plus lots of shout-outs to actual L.A. locations.

Inhuman #13 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: My favorite Inhuman is finally back!

Jem 1Jem and the Holograms #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Nice jumping on point for new and old fans and Campbell’s art is OUTRAGEOUS!!

Justice League Dark #40 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. A flat, by-the-numbers ending to what should have been one of the cooler books of the New 52.

Multiversity: Ultra Comics #1 (DC)
Martin: 5/5 stars. How can you do this justice in a short tweet? Morrison’s oddest work yet, and it’s spot on.

New 52 Futures End #47 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Some great work here to bring the story to a close, but the art was a bit off this week.

New Avengers #32 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Thor and Hyperion make one of the best Avengers duos we should have had more time with. Gonna miss those guys.

Samurai Jack #17 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Zub and Quijada are near perfect with this series! You should be reading this if you’re a longtime fan or just like time displaced samurai action!

Skullkickers #31 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Zub and Huang begin the last arc of this fun series and it starts off great!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutanimals #2 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Hob and Slash just need to go ahead and fight it out and I hope Slash wins.

Uncanny X-Men #32 (Marvel)walking dead 139
Arnab: Man I love me some Cyclops. “We fought for them and they hate us!” #teamcyclops #cyclopswasright #bootheAvengers
Infinite Speech: An issue full of Cyclops and I liked it?! The Marvel Universe must be ending soon. Oh, and Havok showed up and he’s the good Summers brother.

The Valiant #4 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Whoa! Wasn’t expecting any of that and now I need Bloodshot Reborn to come out IMMEDIATELY!!

The Walking Dead #139 (Image)
Arnab: MICHONNE!!! Can you say, finally?!?

Wayward #6 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Again, Zub knocks it out of the park with the story and Cummings kills it on artwork! Glad this series is back!
