As we saw last issue, the dark side of this conflict was strengthening its army.  This time around, the good guys get a little bit stronger.

A beautiful blonde woman named Samantha is being trained by Shang the Banderwolf.  She’s using magic and some kind of magic stick.  The story then flashes back to how she came to be under the tutelage of the Banderwolf.

Sela fought Belinda and sacrificed herself to save Samantha.  Sela then tells Samantha to enter through the blue mirror.  It will lead her home; she’s been given a second chance.  Samantha finds herself in a frozen cave, facing down Abadon, a giant monster bug thing according to Samantha.  Abadon tells her that she must solve a riddle if she is to pass.  If she fails to solve it, he will dine on her flesh.  The riddle she must solve reminds me very much of my favorite Emo Philips joke (seen here at the 1:33 mark).

She solves the riddle and gains passage.  She then comes in contact with Tiamat, the guardian of the Lake of Frozen Souls.  To pass, she must solve another riddle or join the rest of the souls in the lake.  Samantha solves the riddle and is given passage once again, but also is given a magic stick.  She eventually crosses the path of a giant eagle with octopus tentacles.  To pass, you guessed it, she has to solve another riddle.

Ahead, there’s a cabin.  She’s almost home.  Before she can reach the cabin, she’s attacked by some weird looking wolfman.  She kicks his ass with her magic stick.  A note to my readers: never mess with a hot chick who has a magic stick!  Inside the cabin is where she finds Shang, the Banderwolf.

So we have this Chinese dude (Shang), a green-skinned fairy (Nissa), and Sela.  They leave through a magic portal.  Before they leave, Shang tells her that if they do not return, it is up to her to protect the Earth from the Darkhorde.

Things are starting to get interesting.  In my ignorance of all that is Grimm Fairy Tales, I gather that it’s all leading to a huge slobber-knocker throw down between good and evil in the forthcoming Grimm Fairy Tales #50.  I’m not entirely sure just yet, but I’m strapped in for the ride.  This issue also tells us that we can follow the adventures of Samantha in the upcoming new ongoing series, Grimm Tales.

As always, inside the drool-inducing cover, Zenescope Entertainment gives us a good story with beautiful babes and dastardly demons.  If you’re not reading any Zenescope titles, whet your whistle with these reviews, and then head to your local comic shop and say, “More Zenescope, please!”
