There is a local theater that is housing a secret…a secret of horror! In this first issue, we begin with a young couple heading into the theater to watch some cheesy movie. They actually spend most of the time making fun of the place, but it’s the middle part of the story, or the meat, that was intriguing. We see a young boy and his father trying to wait out a zombie apocalypse inside their home. They talk of the loss of the woman of the house, and then venture outside to see if things are safe. What happens next is something very terrifying for the young boy, and his father takes it even worse!
Alright, well, I didn’t know what to expect out of this issue, but I did like it. The beginning and end parts with the theater were a little boring, but the middle part of the story involving the father and son with a bunch of zombies was pretty cool. I’m not a huge horror reader, but from what I’ve been told (TFtWC) it’s somewhat generic. That’s OK for a new reader like me, but I guess hardcore horror readers might find it a bit bland. The artwork was pretty good, but I actually liked the art better in the scenes from the beginning and end. Of course, the cover by Artgerm is absolutely awesome! Rating 3/5

What is the going on inside the insidious theater? Well, after two issues, I have no idea, but maybe that’s the point. This issue started off by showcasing something called “Memoirs of a Serial Killer.” In this story (which consequently had absolutely nothing to do with issue #1), we see a crazy dude that over a period of time and through many different methods, kills several people. Not only did he kill some people, he has the audacity to write about it as well. Follow along as this book shows us the inside life of a serial killer from beginning to end!
OK, well, I’d be lying if I didn’t start off by saying I was disappointed by the fact that this book wasn’t a continuation of the fist. I mean, it wasn’t a bad book, it just fell flat for me because it was an entirely different story and also didn’t really feature the actual “theater” itself at all. Sometimes I get a little disenchanted with a book when I can’t sort of figure out what’s going on in it right away.
On the other side of things, the artwork was solid, and that was with a different artist from issue one. Typically I enjoy books more when the same artist stays on for a while, but this one switching didn’t miss a beat. I did love the fact that one of the characters in this issue was actually Raven Gregory himself! I’ll definitely be back with the next couple of issues for a review, because after reading some of Gregory’s other books, I’ll keep reading. Rating 2.5/5
