Grimm Fairy Tales 2011 Halloween Special

In this year’s installment of Zenescope’s Halloween Special, we are given three stories involving various characters from the Zenescope world! When you have Gregory, Brusha, and Tedesco writing scripts, you know you’re in good hands.
First up is a story called “Dead Luck Desert.” In it, we see Sela and Belinda teach a drug dealing mercenary a lesson after he disobeyed Belinda five years ago. She gives him specific orders, but he ignores them anyway. Well, he gets shown why you don’t cross two beautiful ladies in the desert outside of Las Vegas when the undead come after him craving flesh!
Next, there is a costume party with a twist in “The Sure Thing.” A young couple (“Dorothy” and “Scarecrow”) enter an extravagant home for a Halloween bash, but it’s clear from the beginning something is different about this one. Yes, a game of Russian roulette, followed by the lord of the manor releasing his pet on the party-goers, show us why it’s never too late to say no to an invite!
Lastly, in “Rule of Three,” there is a serial killer on the loose, but he’s killing prostitutes so nobody really cares. Well, except for the cop on the case, but he’s just about at his wit’s end without any clues so far. One night while he falls asleep, he gets an uninvited guest that slips hims a little bit of information. Enough info to confront the lunatic, but when he does confront him, he quickly finds out that he’s in way over his head!
Overall, this was a fun read and definitely recommended. The last story was my favorite from a story perspective, because I love a good police drama! From an artistic view, though, the first and second tales were better in my opinion. The zombies in the first story, and the “pet” in the second, were really cool. Just right on point as far as matching the setting and characters very well. The cover is gorgeous as usual for Zenescope. They go all out for their covers, and I would expect nothing less!
