WonderCon Anaheim 2019

WonderCon Anaheim 2019

WonderCon returns to Anaheim once more with plenty of news, events, cosplay, and more to show. For such a big con, it has a very small town vibe. You can spend your days there exploring and still probably miss something just out of there being so many cool things. There’s probably a panel for you and hopefully you can get into it. There was plenty of amazing cosplayers abound and all sorts of merchandise for your nerdy little heart to marvel at.

WonderCon continues its streak as one of the more enjoyable conventions of the year. Having the badge checkpoints at the outside perimeter allows for the surrounding outside to be part of the convention floor. This gives the surrounding exterior a cozy feeling for con-goers. It keeps out the protesters that show up and nearly any convention to say some pretty awful stuff, but they’re left out at the curb. It means you can find plenty of places to take your cosplay photos and there’s even a cordoned off food truck area away from the outside.

The con floor was packed to the brim with all kinds of booths, you have your artist alley which always seemed to filled up with folks eager to buy the arts and crafts of either the well known comics professional or a hidden gem from the internet. The most interesting thing for such a big convention is that the smaller businesses and artist alley are the busiest aisles of the whole convention. Folks who come to this con often have remarked that while it’s a rather large space, it still feels like a small con in a complimentary way. You will likely run into some of the celebrities you hope to see at panels and signings, just walking the floor, having fun at the con themselves.

WonderCon is three days long and full of plenty to see and it can feel like too much to do with not enough time. It’s become a favorite for me and it did not disappoint this year. If you ever get a chance to go, it’s the highest recommend. It’s a fun, big, but not too big, convention great for the new or experienced con-goer alike. Bring money to buy fun things, get good and comfy shoes, drink lots of water, be sure to eat, and you can have a lot of a fun at one of the best conventions of the year. See you next time!
