Hey there, Comic Attackers! After over a month long wait due to what Rafael Albuquerque described on Twitter as “Comic Con hangover,” we finally have American Vampire #6 in our hands! While we were waiting, I hope our interview with Scott Snyder was able to hold you over! On with the show!
It’s 1936 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Hoover Dam is just weeks away from the ribbon cutting ceremony and the Chief of Police, Cashel McCogan, has a strange murder on his hands. Howard Beaulieu, one of the heads of the dam project, a hefty man, is found dead and not so hefty. All of the fluids have been drained from his body from two puncture wounds on his neck. FBI agent Jack Straw and his assistant, Felicia Book (Yes, THAT Felicia Book! She’s feisty as all get out, too!), are there to assist Chief McCogan. After talking to the Elevator boy, they find out that Mr. Beaulieu’s last guest in his hotel room was a vampire hooker from The Frontier, a joint run by one Jim Smoke. Chief McCogan has already had run ins with Jim Smoke. So have we, the American Vampire faithful, only we know him by another name….
Cycle two of American Vampire has begun. It is a little different than what we’re used to. This one is not balls-to-the-wall action…yet. Keep in mind that this takes place eleven years after last issue, so we’re on the ground floor of a brand new tale in American vampire folklore. I trust Scott Snyder’s ability to dazzle us, so I’m looking forward to seeing where this is going. What more can I say about the art in this series than I already have? Rafael Albuquerque’s art is just plain sexy with a capital “A” for AWESOME! I read a lot of Vertigo comics. I love a lot of Vertigo comics. American Vampire is, without a doubt, my favorite Vertigo series. It is a true gem with a bright future. Let’s put on our sunglasses and see what happens next, shall we?

LOVE this series!
This series sounds great. I’m definitely gonna be picking this up.
It is a phenomenal series! And all these new characters add new mystery to the story. It is gonna be BAD! ASS!
Even though it was a good opening for a whole new chapter I missed the characters that I had grown an attachment to in the first 5 comics. This left me with a depression throughout my reading of this comic… until things heated up in the spectacular ending.
