X-O Manowar #7
Publisher: Valiant
Written By: Robert Venditti
Art By: Lee Garbett
The 7th issue of X-O Manowar is another prime example of why Valiant is the best publisher with comics on stands this year. This many issues in and the title is still well executed, action packed, and always entrancing page-to-page.
The latest issue finds Aric and Vine-member Alexander chatting it up after escaping Ninjak last issue, giving us a ton of back story and development. Before we know it, Ninjak strikes again, bringing us a very satisfying fight. A deal is struck, and the duo convinces Ninjak of the real menace at hand. In space, the Vine are preparing to crack down on Earth, and are testing out a series of Commando Armor so they can put an end to Aric once and for all. The issue ends with a nice set up for next month, with Aric and Ninjak about to crack some heads.
This series thus far, as all the books Valiant publishes, has been a rocking good time. Every ounce of praise you could write is deserved for this title, and unlike some characters that have been relaunched at other companies, this title was done right here.
The writing by Venditti is good, giving us some flashbacks, and fleshing out the character of Alexander was a nice touch. Also he didn’t fail to include Aric and Ninjak exchanging some blows before advancing the plot, which is much needed in an action title like this. Garbett does good with the art in this issue. There is a lot of talking in these pages, but he never made it once look dull or boring, everything had the right bit of life to it as Venditti’s words melted together with it, keeping us entertained.
X-O Manowar is out now in digital and print from Valiant.
