Several months ago Valiant dropped some exciting news on fans when they announced four new titles and new creative teams for their Valiant Beyond line of books! Now we’ve already seen Faith make her entrance and next up is the nanite fueled soldier, Bloodshot, as he prepares to hit the shelves in the new title, Bloodshot Rising Spirit #1!
Bloodshot’s new story will be told by Kevin Grevioux (the Underworld franchise, New Mutants) along with Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson with visuals by the art team of Ken Lashley, Ryan Winn, and Diego Rodriguez!
“One of the things I don’t like is when writers come in and say, ‘Everything you thought you knew before was wrong,’” writer Kevin Grevioux told Inverse. “I think that’s a slap in the face to both the creator and to longtime fans who’ve been with the character since inception. However, I do think you can enhance and add layers to the history without disturbing the essence of who the character is and what makes him tick. And that’s what we’ll be doing with RISING SPIRIT.”
Before a weapon is deployed in battle, it must be designed, refined, field-tested. Bloodshot was no exception. In the early days of the private military contractor Project Rising Spirit, the nanite-infused super-soldier who would one day become their most violent and valuable asset was a resource to be mined – and it was up to an enterprising team of scientists to ensure he did what he was told. But a memory is a tricky thing…and the man Bloodshot used to be won’t let go of his past so easily…
