Dan- what issue of Hellboy were you in? You don’t like WITCHFINDER? I just started reading vol. 2 and its hooked me. Like the setting and the art.
On the Kitty/Armor thing: 1) Armor is currently starring in Astonishing X-Men. The story is focused around her…but yes, she should be going to Breakworld. 2) Shadowcat and Armor are NOTHING alike. Don’t know where you’re getting that from Dan. Armor is Asian. Kitty is Jewish American. How the hell are they similar? Plus, their powers are completely different, and Armor is more of a 3rd tier X-Man whereas Kitty is one of the main characters.
Also, you dissed it in passing, but Age of X is very well done.
As for Superboy being nominated for an Eisner- I totally agree, it shouldn’t be. Especially when Lemire is also writing/drawing/creating the phenomenal SWEET TOOTH book. How the hell does that series not have a nod? I don’t get it.
What I meant by them being similar was their look. With KItty wearing the helmet she comes off as being protected giving her the same outer appearance as Armor. That was all.
My I LOVE COMICS picture was in Hellboy: The Storm #1
Armor is MUCH cooler regardless of how much history Kitty has on her!
Someone on the Eisner board must be a REALLY big Superboy fan because I just don’t understand that nomination at all.
Wow Dan, thats a lot of problems with one issue. We can believe that someone can turn into a living diamond, but if they don’t give Wolverine little slits for his claws you call foul? Do you have a prescription for some kind of Marvel hating pills or something?!?
I do drink from the Marvel Haterade Punch Bowl that is for sure 🙂 After years of loving what went on I really feel all that is left to do is nit pick at the simple things that are overlooked too often. When your the top dog company you need to have standards that you hold yourselves to so you don’t look like the smaller competition and Marvel doesn’t seem to do that. So for every $3-$4 you spend each week on their books your just contributing to the pile of cash they are napping on while little things like this inconsistency slip through the cracks.
I can’t weigh in on this argument of new versus old, because I’m not all that familiar with new goings on. I add and drop, add and drop, add and drop x-men titles all the time now. I just know that they don’t hold my interest and get me excited like they did back in the day. I want so badly to enjoy the X-Men like I did back in the day. It’s just not happening.
Andy- You’re right. Sweet Tooth should be nominated. Not Superboy. While it is a good series, I think it lost a little bit of its luster having to take a side street with the Doomsday crap. And I don’t think truly deserving books for “Best New Series” should be involved in company crossovers because it’s a new series. Let it build itself before it gets mixed in with the other garbage. Sheesh.
I gotcha Dan, and I can’t disagree.
Certain Marvel titles are definitely skating on thin ice with me. I’ll be putting an order in soon for new books, and there very well may be zero X-books on it. 🙁 It’s a shame.
OMG I actually agree with Dan on something!! Namor is NOT a mutant. At most he is a human/Atlantean hybrid not a mutant in the way Cyclops, Magneto, Rogue, ect. are mutants.
Thanks for the nice words Aron and while I did like the Bruce/Clark team up, the issue was not great, just the best that it has been since the “grounded” thing started.
Also just in case you wanted to know:
Doomsday fought the Cyborg Superman and Supergirl in the Superman/Batman annual and he fought the Eradicator in an issue of the Outsiders, where Eradicator is a team member.
