Marvel’s next entry into video games is based on a fan favorite group of supernatural and monstrous heroes who banded together in the 90s under the name “Midnight Sons”. This ever-changing roster included heroes like Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze), Doctor Strange, Jack Russell aka Werewolf by Night, Blade, and more who went up against Lilith, Mother of Demons and her children.
Announced at Gamescon 2021, the XCOM team from Firaxis is bringing us a turn-based RPG loosely based on those wild crossover stories from the 90s titled, Marvel’s Midnight Suns! The game will have some of Marvel’s well known characters like Blade, Captain America, Iron Man, and Wolverine to some of the more obscure ones like Nico, the witch from Runaways, the New Mutants Magik, and more. There will be a total of 13 characters in the fight against Lilith. As the player you’ll take control of a new character called The Hunter and it’s your responsibility to stop Lilith and her brood along with the heroes. Oh, did I mention that The Hunter is also a child of Lilith? You’ll be able to customize The Hunter to your liking in terms of looks and combat to fit your play style.
“Through a twisted marriage of magic and science, the nefarious force known as Hydra has revived Lilith, Mother of Demons, after centuries of slumber,” Firaxis notes in a press release. “Lilith will stop at nothing to complete an ancient prophecy and summon her evil master, Chthon. Pushed to the brink, the Avengers desperately look to fight fire with Hellfire by enlisting the help of the Midnight Suns … Young heroes with powers deeply rooted in the supernatural, formed to prevent the very prophecy Lilith aims to fulfill.”
Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be available on PC via Epic Game Store and Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
Marel’s Contest of Champions mobile game is getting two new fighters as Kitty Pryde and the ultimate sentinal, Nimrod, make their debut in September.
Synopsis:
Tensions rise between the mutants of Clan Akkaba, the followers of Apocalypse, and the people of Krakoa, Xavier’s mutant-only island nation. Sabotage and subterfuge fuel the deepening rift, and heinous crimes are pinned on none other than Kitty Pryde! Tracking down leads with her and Wolverine, the summoner uncovers a plot that seeks to do far more than just smear the name of the young mutant…
Katherine “Kitty” Pryde led the life of a normal teenager until she began suffering headaches of steadily increasing intensity as a result of her emerging mutant powers. Seeing her potential, Phoenix telepathically coerced Kitty’s parents into allowing her to join Xavier’s “school for gifted youngsters” where she quickly became the youngest member of the X-Men. During her adventures, Kitty encountered and befriended a small alien dragon-like creature named “Lockheed” who quickly became her constant companion and travel buddy!
Nimrod is the ultimate Sentinel. Constructed in a timeline where Mutants have been completely wiped out by the superior, infinitely advancing robotic beings. Upon realization that it’s one directive to exterminate all Mutants was no longer possible within Nimrod’s original timeline, this flawless, unstoppable force of destruction begins to jump to alternate timelines, ridding the multi-verse of the abhorrent Mutant scourge.
