Earlier this year, Dark Horse released a comic book tie-in to hit video game Mass Effect in Mass Effect: Redemption. Now the story continues in Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Dark Horse has released a few very interesting teaser posters. Take a look.
In Mass Effect: Redemption, Liara was on a desperate search for Commander Shepard’s body, which took her on a journey involving deadly space boss, the Shadow Broker. If you’re a fan of the game, or just a fan of classic sci-fi action, Dark Horse’s Mass Effect series is a must read. I can’t wait!
I know what you’re thinking. You love Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet story line, but it’s just not cute enough for you. Well, THQ has the solution for you with Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet! The sequel to last year’s Marvel Super Hero Squad game based off the TV show and toy line, looks to follow about the same story as Jim Starlin’s Infinity Gauntlet, but with a much more child friendly tone.
The big difference between this game and last year’s is the game play. Instead of being just a top-down action game, Infinity Gauntlet will play similarly to the Lego games as a co-op adventure game with the drop-in/drop-out feature. The game will have a starting roster of thirteen Marvel heroes, including Wolverine, Iron Man, The Hulk, She-Hulk, Nova, The Invisible Woman, Scarlett Witch, Spider-Man, and The Silver Surfer with more characters available later as DLC. Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet launches this November on all the major consoles and handhelds.
While obviously the kiddie nature of this game won’t appeal to most mature fans, hardcore Marvel fans may think about giving this one a rent. The Lego games (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman) are pretty fun with friends, and following along those lines of gameplay sounds like a good idea by THQ. Checkout the trailer here.
On the topic of animated super hero video games, Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Video Game is out next month and GameSpot.com has a great in-depth developer demo of the game which you can see here.
Where Batman: The Brave and the Bold the TV show captures the fun of classic Saturday morning superhero action, the game looks to do the same with a classic 2D style of beat ’em up gameplay. Like Super Hero Squad, the game is directed more toward the younger crowd, but after watching the above developer demo, both the DC fan inside me and classical gamer are excited. I’m actually really impressed by the roster size of playable characters in this game. Right now only a few characters have been revealed, like Robin, Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, Blue Beetle, and Plastic Man, but the final roster is rumored to have up to fifteen playable DC heroes.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold: The Video Game drops September 7th, and you can expect our dissection of it here on The Comics Console that same week.

The season of new great video game releases is upon us, and with games like Shattered Dimensions, Brave and the Bold, DC Universe Online, and Scott Pilgrim: the Video Game all out this fall, comic book fans’ consoles are definitely looking to be busy.

I was all set to try out Mass Effect…then I learned it was only for the Xcrotch 360. Phooey!
You can get it for the computer, too.
But it’s really worth picking up a 360 to play it. And some other games. 🙂
But I’m hardcore Playstation. I’ve touched an Xbox once and a 360 never.
