Welcome back to my Reviews. This week I’ll make it a two-part session because I have eight books to cover. In this installment, I’ll be looking at two ongoings, one one-shot, and one limited series. No time to waste, so here we go.
First on the list is…Siege: Spider-Man #1 (one-shot).
Publisher: Marvel
Writer: Brian Reed
Artist: Marco Santucci (cover by Marko Djurdjevic)
I’ve gotta say kudos to Brian Reed for giving us a light-hearted look at a battle between Spider-Man and Venom, with Ms. Marvel caught in the middle. The book basically just showed like all the other “Siege” banner bearing books, a peek into what else is going on while the main fighting goes on in the main title. Spidey and Carol do their best to stop Venom, but he eventually gets the upper hand. When Carol blasts the Symbiote off of him, it then tries to take control of her, and does momentarily. Spidey then overloads Venom/Carol by slamming them into a transformer on a utility pole. Like I said, nothing Earth shattering, but a really cool book to give you a glimpse of what else is going on. 3.5/5
Next up is…DoomWar #3 of 6.
Publisher: Marvel
Writer: Jon Mayberry
Artist: Scot Eaton (Cover by John Romita Jr.)
This limited series is really turning out even better than I had anticipated. I’m a big Doom fan and the supporting cast is cool too, but I really didn’t expect this much action through three issues. In this particular issue, we saw Doom reveal his entire plan to the Panther God who judges all who come to Wakkanda to try and obtain Vibranium. So in other words, Doom stood buck naked in front of a giant panther and told him how he is Earth’s only hope for survival in the future. The big cat agreed after reading Doom’s thoughts, and let Doom have the Vibranium, which in turn Doom is using to outfit himself and his Doombots with. It’s not looking good for T’Challa and the Fantastic Four. 3.5/5
Thirdly I have…Dark Wolverine #85.
Publisher: Marvel
Writer(s): Daniel Way & Majorie Liu
Artist: Stephen Segovia
I have to admit, I do think this book is OK and that the Romulus arc is slightly better now then before it took a break, but I honestly don’t understand one big thing especially. In Siege, Daken is laying waste to dozens of Asgardians, but in this book and Origins, he’s frightened like a little kitten around Romulus. It just doesn’t make sense to portray him as unstoppable in one book and a wuss in another. That said, the book showed Daken betraying Wolverine, and then getting stabbed in the guts for his acts. It appeared to be the Muramasa Blade too, but I know all too well that it couldn’t be because we all know Daken isn’t going anywhere. As stated, it’s a decent book, but not something to write home about. 3/5
Finally I present…X-Men Legacy #235 (Second Coming Chapter 4).
Publisher: Marvel
Writer: Mike Carey
Artist: Greg Land (cover by Adi Granov)
Wow, is Second Coming turning up the heat in this issue! We see Sam’s team trying to put down Hodge and his crew, but that seems easier said than done. Cypher and Warlock hack into the computers and find out some information about where Bastion might be hiding. We also see Cerebra get put out of commission by Bastion’s lackey Donald Pierce. Warlock goes on a rampage and starts to kill everyone in sight after a talk with Cypher about not holding back. We also see the X-Men get attacked by some jet fighters, and Ariel gets blown to bits. Wolverine and X-23 walk out from the fire all charred and tell everybody to keep moving, because “payback comes later.” This is the best X-event in a while people. You need to be reading this! 4/5
That’s it for now, and soon I’ll be back with my second part from this week of books. Definitely pick up Second Coming though. If you even haven’t read an X-book in a while, it’s worth the money, trust me.

Daken actually started off a pretty decent character but it seems as if he’s been “dumbed down” as of late making him just another blah character. I still haven’t read my Spidey Siege book and Doomwar is GREAT!
@Speech -I think DoomWar is being overshadowed by Siege and Second Coming. Its a shame too because its a great book!
Great artwork!
I totally agree and if things don’t change there might be SPEECH WAR coming very soon! lol
Speech War… hah
I do like Doomwar, perhaps I’m biased toward Victor, but I think its about the best thing going.
@Speech & Eli- Maybe IS will “Release the Kraken”! lol
