What The?! was one of those comics I always picked up, filled with juvenile delights. “The Marvel mag of mirth and mayhem” is proudly printed across the cover of each issue; I loved seeing that every time I picked an issue up. These classics are filled from front to back, with great fake advertisements. What The?! was Marvel’s humor comic, it is in the same vein as Mad or Cracked.
The Revengers vs Just-A-League
Writer: Scott Lobdell
Artist: Rurik Tyler
Revengers vs Just-A-League is a great spoof of an Avengers vs Justice League battle. It has characters like The Least, Ironed Man, and Sore on the Revengers; and SuperbMan, Bland Canary, and Marshmallow Man Hunter on the Just-A-League. This story is not much more than a parody of Marvel and DC characters in a battle royal, which I have to admit is pretty cool!
Merry Mutant Melodies
Writer: Kelly P. Corvese
Artist: Kelly P. Corvese
This little number is a slew of songs about X-men written to the tune of classic Christmas carols. Songs like “Logans Claws are Adamantium”, “Walk Through Walls”, and “We Three Jeans”. I’m not a big fan of Christmas carols, however I did get a chuckle or two from these.
Awful Flight
Writer: Marc McLauren
Artist: Donald Hudson
This story is a spoof of every one’s favorite Canadian super team Alpha Flight! This is a great read that pokes lots of fun at Marvel and Alpha Flight. This is a slapstick cheesy romp through the Alpha Flight universe that I plan on reading again!
Patsy Walker
Writer: Richard Howell
Artist: Richard Howell
I know absolutely nothing about Patsy Walker, so this story did very little for me. It follows Pasty as she flashes between a cheesy 50’s world and a weird nightmare world where she is Hellcat. It was OK and had some humor, but I just couldn’t get into it.
All in all this was a great trip down memory lane for me. I enjoyed this comic as a kid and enjoyed it even more this time around. I think I even understood more of the humor and innuendo this time. If you can find this or any of the What The?! series, I would suggest you pick it up and give it a read!

I think most issues of ‘What The?!’ are freaking hilarious.
I loved the humor in this series! Great review!
These sound hilarious. I’ve never read any of these but they look like a fun read.
Those are some of my all time favorite books, I wonder… does anyone know if the series has been collected in a trade?
They do look really fun to read.
