New ‘Static’ Film, the Return of Blood Syndicate, and More Announced at DC FanDome!

DC FanDome just dropped some big news regarding Milestone’s line of comics and what we can expect in the future! Ever since the Season One line of books made their debut many longtime fans have been asking for one more title to join the list. Now it looks as if our wait is over and Blood Syndicate will finally be rejoining the Milestone Comics line up! No creative team was announced yet but it looks like we’ll be seeing the book sometime in 2022.

Now for you old school Milestone fans and newer readers who just want to see where things began, DC will be releasing Milestone Compendium One in February 1, 2022. The book is going to be massive a 1,300 pages with classic stories from Dwayne McDuffie, John Rozum, Frazer Irving, and more. This book will collect Hardware #1-12, Icon #1-10, Blood Syndicate #1-12, Static #1-8, Shadow Cabinet #0, and Xombi #1-8.

It’s was also mentioned that in the current line of Static, Icon & Rocket, and Hardware there will be more interactions connecting the Dakotaverse heroes during Season Two. Something that we’ve seen hints of now but will certainly excite many fans.

Fans of Static also received some great news when it was confirmed by Reggie Hudlin and Denys Cowan that the live action film is on it’s way! The news was sparse but we do know that Randy McKinnon is writing the script and it will be produced jointly with Warner Bros. and Michael B. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society.

Ever since Static, Hardware, Icon, and Rocket appeared in Young Justice the fans have been wanting to see more of the Dakotaverse heroes in something of their own. Well look no further because an animated film has also been announced. The film will be written by Brandon Thomas and will feature Milestone favorites. No release date yet but we’ll be keep you posted as things develop.

You would think that with new comics, a live action movie, and an animated feature film on the way that that would be enough but Milestone isn’t finished yet as they have also announced the Milestone Initiative Development Program! In collaboration with Ally the program will serve “Black and underrepresented” comic creators. If that’s you and you have a story to tell then we highly suggest you click the link for more details and begin the submission process as the last day to submit is November 15, 2021.

Milestone looks to be giving the fans what they want and is set to have a huge couple of years! Let’s hope this momentum keeps up and we get even more huge announcements in the future.
