Our first look at Joaquin Phoenix as Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime finally arrives in the new trailer for Joker! An origin story that takes place in the 1980s that shows the decent into madness of Arthur Fleck. The man who would become one of Batman’s greatest rivals.
The trailer shows some of what starts him on this path and hints at a strong connection to his mother. Several other starts make an appearance in the trailer and you’ll miss Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beats, and Robert DeNiro if you blink!
Regardless of how you feel about an origin of one of the last few mysterious comic characters around, you should be a little excited about Phoenix’s portrayal of Joker. The guy is an amazing actor and it will have to be a much better version than what we got in Suicide Squad from Leto. Plus, any callback to the Ceasar Romero Joker always gets a thumbs up from me!
Joker will be in theaters October 4th.
