Just like with Venom, Sony Pictures and Marvel will release a film based on a longtime Spider-Man villain and sometimes anti-hero with Morbius! Michael Morbius will be played by Jared Leto as he becomes something akin to a vampire while looking for a cure to his rare disease. The film will also star Matt Smith as Loxias Crown. A well known friend turned enemy of Morbius in the comics. Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson will also star.
Morbius Synopsis:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
A huge change that we’ll get with this movie is that unlike with Venom we see that Morbius has a very strong connection to the current MCU Spider-Man films. There’s easter eggs that tie directly into both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home in this trailer. This opens up the door to so many more questions and possibilities regarding the rumors of longtime Spider-Man team of villains, The Sinister Six, finally getting the big screen treatment!
