Hello and welcome to another edition of Marvel Snapshot! This week, we’ll be spotlighting one of the more underrated characters in the Marvel U. in Agent 13 herself, Sharon Carter! Yes, the hot, but dangerous, blonde haired vixen is in the spotlight today, so get ready! Sharon was created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Dick Ayers (Tales of Suspense #75, 1966).
Sharon is the niece of the former lover of Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter. Back in WWII, Steve and Peggy had an affair while Peggy was a resistance fighter in France. Sharon grew up hearing the war stories and was excited to try and live up to those expectations. Sharon joined S.H.I.E.L.D. when she came of age, and not long after she met Captain America during a fight with Batroc the Leaper. The two would be joined together off and on for more adventures than I can count after that. Later, Sharon came under the influence of mind altering gas, and apparently committed suicide (National Force). It would be later revealed that she didn’t die, but was involved in an under cover mission for Nick Fury.
She next had a crazy adventure where she had to team up with the Red Skull himself! The two had to defeat a group of Nazis that were determined to revive Adolph Hitler. The two, along with a re-energized Captain America, did defeat the group and stopped their plans. Eventually, though, Sharon was abducted by the Winter Soldier in an attempt to draw out Captain America. During this time is when she and Steve found out that Bucky was actually the Winter Soldier. Civil War caused a rift between her and Steve for a while, but then she joined his side. She was right by his side when he was shot by Crossbones in Captain America #25, and it was revealed then that the shot from Crossbones was only supposed to cause confusion while a mind controlled Sharon used a handgun up close to shoot Captain America. She was under the control of the Red Skull and Dr. Faustus, and would be under their influence for a while. Bucky ended up helping her, along with the Falcon and Black Widow.
The worst part of all this for Sharon definitely has to be the fact that during her time of being mind controlled, she had been forced to forget that she was pregnant with Steve Rogers’s child. Once she was told that after a confrontation with Sin she lost the baby, Sharon went into a downward spiral emotionally. After the return of Captain America, she and Steve took some time off at her home in Virginia. She is a member of the Secret Avengers currently.

Nice one here Billy! As I’ve discovered in recent years how much I like Cap, I’ve also learned that I really like Sharon too. She’s hardcore, right there with Steve. She may even be my favorite blonde S.H.I.E.L.D. agent… but not by too much over Carol.
She became one of my favorite female characters during Brubakers great run on Captain America. Pick it up if you don’t own it, it’s good. Sharon really came into her own during that run leading up too (and after) Death of Captain America.
I do have some of that run in TPB format and I think its great. That was my first introduction to her, and she’s only grown on me more since then.
