DC Animation Preview: Justice League: Throne of Atlantis

Justice_League_-_Throne_of_AtlantisI think it’s pretty reasonable to say that DC animation has been rocking it pretty hard these past couple of years, with fantastic features like Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns part 1 and 2, plus other non-Batman titles. From the surprisingly gender aware and non-condescending storytelling in Wonder Woman, to the absolutely brilliant yet painfully short runs of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice, DC has made it clear that while Marvel may be the place to go for your blockbuster live action superhero movies (for the time being), DC’s got the animation world all sewed up.

To hopefully continue that dominance, coming January 27th, DC is releasing the sequel to the awesome feature Justice League: War entitled Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, and having seen a bit of it at NYCC, myself and the NYC Comic Attack squadron were very excited for a release date.

“Burbank, CA (December 4, 2014) – The newly formed Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman discover another super hero on the planet – Aquaman – and the group must band together to prevent a war between the inhabitants of land and sea.”

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack for about 24.98, and on DVD for $19.98 for all you troglodytes who have not yet stepped up their games. The Blu-ray Combo Pack also includes a digital version of the movie on Digital HD with UltraViolet, a.k.a. that extra piece of paper that comes in the Blu-ray case that you didn’t really bother with until you got bored one day and found out it was a digital hookup. And of course you can downloaded it direct from all the usual suspects in Digital HD on January 13, as well.

With a newly minted team of heroes still trying to find their footing as they navigate the line between politics and war with a newly revealed sovereign nation of Atlantis, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis has all the trimmings of a classic, but you’ll have to keep it locked here at ComicAttack.net for the review (Coming Soon) to know for sure.
