The previous issue of On the Stump was purely enjoyable and at times insane! It also guaranteed a return to check out the second issue to see if the creative team could keep that momentum going and solidify this series in my current read pile and quite possibly yours.

Brown opens this one up with a wild conversation right before we see Thunder Bearer and Big Game called into a meeting at the Nixx Corporation. Now we saw how capable they were last issue but Brown shows that there’s always someone else even more capable who not only wants the smoke and will gladly put you in a vice grip during a meeting. But it’s during these tense moments that Brown also reveals some small things about the duo and how they see themselves as not just Congressmen but as fighters/warriors. And the deeper we get into the political intrigue the more crazy things get and we see that the Slay Act isn’t the only issue but it is a serious point of contention. However, it looks as if big business is pulling the strings of Congress just like in real life.

Prenzy’s art perfectly still moves the narrative well which is displayed throughout the issue. The tension and buildup at the beginning was perfect. And don’t let the Mr. Hail’s business suit fool you because Prenzy makes sure you see the power and ferocity in that exchange that put Big Game on the floor. The bloody appearance of a new character also hits at the perfect time and the introduction of The Forge is a huge impact full page as well. But once again Prenzy hits us with a violent and dynamic sequence that is over-the-top greatness! The fallout from this should be huge when it’s all said and done.

With this issue, On the Stump has solidified a spot on my pull list and hopefully will find its way to yours as well. Brown’s writing here is entertaining on several levels and I like the fact that Prenzy’s art style is like nothing currently out and stands on its own. This is political intrigue like you’ve never seen it before!
