This issue of Revolution becomes a turning point for the mini series as writers, John Barber and Cullen Bunn slow things down so we can catch our breath. There’s a lot going on here and it’s nice to get a chance to see some character development amongst the huge cast here. Not only are we seeing a forward push in the story but the stakes are raised as we find out during a tense discussion between Optimus Prime and ROM. It seems like there’s a quick and easy solution to their collective problem all they have to do is destroy the Microverse and billions of lives to do it. The writing team also seems to be laying down some hints on the formation of V.E.N.O.M. who become the arch enemy of M.A.S.K. for those that don’t know. Tracker is starting to see that their methods are crossing a line he’s uncomfortable with despite Miles’ reasonings. They’re torturing the Autobot Kup for information and he’s realizing these are more than just simple machines.

Ossio continues to deliver strong visuals in each panel and keeps your eyes busy and entertained. There’s great detail put into both the human and robot characters with their classic looks given an update. Though Prime’s tapered waist might take some getting used to because it looks exaggerated at times. Cheng’s coloring just puts everything on the next level of awesome and continues to make these pages an 80s kid’s dream! The sequence where the Cybertronians and ROM show up along with the reveal of a certain ninja are just standout pages of art.

Overall, the character development and surprises help to keep Revolution a fun and entertaining crossover event. There’s also character bios at the end that will familiarize you with the cast and adds more to the story. It doesn’t matter what era you were introduced to these characters, Revolution is the crossover you want to be reading!
