David Goyer, writer of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and other major comic book films, will write a new Superman movie called The Man of Steel. The Latino Review broke the news saying Goyer “had an idea that actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. FUN!”
The Latino Review also says “I can tell you that Goyer’s story involves Luthor and Brainiac. It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry. I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet. And I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology.”
The site also says Brandon Routh will not be returning as Superman, and Bryan Singer will not be directing.
This is great news! David Goyer knows his comics and has written and directed great films before, so I’m confident that we’ll finally be getting the Superman movie we’ve been wanting. I thought Kevin Spacey did a great job as Lex Luthor in Superman Returns, but that’s about the only nice thing I can say about the film. Going back to John Byrne’s Superman is a huge step in the right direction in my opinion. What do you guys think about Goyer writing a Superman reboot?

Honestly? I could care. I suppose Goyer’s resume gives promise, but I’d like to see who gets cast as Superman before I get too excited…
…and why in the hell would the Latino News get the privilege to break this story!?
Because Superman goes to Mexico a lot. Especially when he wants burritos or something. I think I remember it happening in that ACTION COMICS story line by Geoff Johns, Richard Donner, and Adam Kubert.
“The site also says Brandon Routh will not be returning as Superman”
That IS great news!
I agree with Kris…Routh was a tool.
Routh gave a much better performance in “Zack and Miri”.
