Image Reviews: Five Weapons #4

FW4Five Weapons #4
Publisher: Image Comics
Writer: Jimmie Robinson
Artist: Jimmie Robinson
Cover: Jimmie Robinson & Paul Little

It seems like Tyler Shainline isn’t the only person with a secret to hide, as Jimmie Robinson starts bringing things full circle. For the past several issues Tyler has navigated his way through the various clubs and outsmarted their top students. Infuriating the Principal and faculty alike who are all plotting to make sure his success comes to an end. We also find out in this issue that there’s more to our one-eyed Principal, as a new character is introduced that is tied to her past and guaranteed to throw a monkey wrench in some plans.

Five Weapons has consistently brought entertaining and just plain fun stories issue after issue. Robinson has created some very unique and visually eye catching characters to populate this world he’s dropped us into. The story itself has a much lighter tone than what was expected, but therein lies most of its charm. Everything else is brought together with Robinson’s artwork that is just as entertaining as his narrative. Being that he’s handling both artist and writer duties, it’s great that neither is suffering for the other. Also, Paul Little’s colors seal the deal on the great looking visuals from panel to panel.

If you have yet to read Five Weapons then you need to correct that mistake immediately! It just doesn’t seem right that a series that’s been this fun is only five issues long, so it’s going to be bittersweet when we get the conclusion to Shainline’s story next issue. All in all, Five Weapons is a hit so pick it up!
