Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 04/29/15

All-New Captain America #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Great ending to the first arc but what the hell, Misty?!!

avengers 44 Avengers #44 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I wasn’t too excited about Secret Wars but this build up has been excellent!

Batman #40 (DC)
Arnab: What in the hell. That was totally unexpected, but still awesome.
Martin: 5/5 stars. This gets 5 stars for art & for being a great ending to a great arc. So many endings are let downs – not this one!

Bitch Planet #4 (Image)
Infinite Speech: There aren’t too many title around better than this one!

Convergence #4 (DC)
Arnab: It’s slowly getting better, but at this point, who cares?
Martin: 2/5 stars. This series could have been so much more. There’s some decent stuff, but the whole concept just falls flat.

Convergence Action Comics #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Despite an exposition overload, this serves as a good character study of 2 very different Supermen

Convergence Blue Beetle #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. The real treat here is seeing these old classic characters in action again, w/ nice art by Yishan Li.

Convergence Booster Gold (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. While a bit hard to follow if you’re not up on your Booster Gold history, this is still a good read.

Convergence Crime Syndicate (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. It’s tough to write a comic from a villain perspective. Some interesting stuff, but just okay.

Convergence Infinity Inc. #1 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Never really gets going – some bland characterization and little propelling the story forward.

Convergence Justice Society #1 (Djustice society 1C)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A really interesting look at what happens to these “ageless” heroes when they lose their powers.

Convergence Plastic Man #1 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. Forget silly & insane Plastic Man antics. We just get “stretchy guy fights Nazis.” Wasted opportunity

Convergence Shazam #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Spot-on art matching a fun story that doesn’t dwell much on the whole “Battleworld” premise. Great stuff!

Convergence World’s Finest #1 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. I was hoping for so much more about this cool team, but instead it’s another Convergence miss.

He-Man: The Eternity War #5 (DC)
Infinite Speech: The various Skeletors in the Multiverse was a nice touch in another great issue.

Hip-Hop Family Tree FCBD
Infinite Speech: Ed Piskor can do no wrong! Hopefully you picked this up!

Justice League #40 (DC)
Infinite Speech: A great introduction to a new event and the word “crisis” was only mentioned one time? Wow!
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Fans of the DC Multiverse & of any of the various “Crisis” events should definitely pick this up!

Multiversity #2 (DC)
Martin: 5/5 stars. There’s no way to put this into 140 characters. Any comic book fan should read this series. ‘Nuff said.

New Avengers #33 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: DC should take notes on how to effectively build up to the end of your universe because it gets no better than this! All hail DOOM!

Princess Leia #3 (Marvel)Princess Leia 2
Infinite Speech: Dodson’s artwork looks a bit meh here but it’s still a solid issue.

Red One #2 (Image)
Infinite Speech: I see where the Dodsons are putting more effort and it’s in this series here!

Scarlet Couture #1 (Titan)
Infinite Speech: A nice, fun little spy series that has potential.

Skullkickers #32 (Image)
Infinite Speech: It’s about to go down but I really don’t want this series to end!

Superman #40 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. There’s a lot to like in this – a fun Justice League type story, heroes being able to be human, & good Romita art

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #45 (IDW)
Arnab: Hot damn diggity. I knew it as it was happening, but I didn’t want it to be true.
Infinite Speech: Santolouco & C.P.W. III art in the same comic? That is worth the cover price alone!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles FCBD (IDW)
Infinite Speech: While tying into the current storyline this gets any new reader caught up on what’s been happening with the Turtles.

Wayward #7 (Image)
Infinite Speech: This is one fascinating piece of fantasy storytelling so start reading this series!
