With the stroke of his proverbial pen, Scott Snyder not only overshadows Convergence but changes the status quo for all things Bat-Family related as well. Bruce Wayne is dead, the Joker is dead, Alfred is missing an arm, Robin is nowhere to be found, and Dick Grayson is (presumably) no longer believed to be dead, at least by the Bat-Family. Snyder, Greg Capullo, FCO, and Danny Miki work together beautifully to produce one of the best of issues of Snyder’s run. Joker and Batman have long been considered more than just mere enemies, and with the events of this arc, their story could not have played out any differently. The two have been and will always be locked in a never ending, cycle of crime and justice. Will either of them ever return? Obviously, yes (especially if that silhouetted man in crutches is any indication.) But regardless of their eventual return, this was a terrific ending to their ongoing dance. On a sidenote, as surprising as the death was, it was equally as surprising that it somehow managed to actually stay a secret and was not spoiled months ago on the internet. 4.5/5

Even as this series slowly gets better, the excitement for it continues to diminish. The heroes of Earth-2, find themselves taking sides in a battle for Skartaris. Meanwhile, Telos and Dick Grayson get to know each other a little better. This event continues to be a scattered mess. There are too many tie-ins, many of which have no relevance to the bigger picture, and so far no clear way to discern which one’s will play a bigger part in the story yet to come. Hopefully with the arrival of Brainiac at the end of the issue, readers will start getting some answers about the reason for all of this. 3.5/5
