Adventure Time #39 (Boom!)
NickZ: This has the most horrific Chef/monster/demon thing, that will haunt your dreams forever.
All-New X-Men #40 (Marvel)
Arnab: Bisexual Bobby. Make it happen Bendis.
Infinite Speech: Making Bobby gay NOW just seems like a cheap ploy, so there better be a legit payoff at the end of this.
NickZ: I don’t mind Bobby being gay, but this raises a whole mess of questions as to why adult Bobby isn’t. I thought the coming out was actually handled pretty cute. (Back off Jean Grey haters)
The Amazing Spider-Man #17.1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Give it up Spidey. The Wraith ain’t listening!
NickZ: Point one issue are usually pretty crap but the storyline going on in these point one issues is actually pretty good.
Amazing X-Men #19 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: After the X-Men history lesson things actually pick up. This issue also is a painful reminder that Colossus needs a costume upgrade.
NickZ: I loved this issue. I love the way the story was told like a fairytale and I love the dynamic angles and style used during the fight scenes. Well done Yost and Fornes!
Avengers World #20 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Shang Chi needs a lot more exposure.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #14 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: This was the most emotional issue of Buffy that I’ve ever read. Buffy going through Spikes mind and realizing who he really is and what she means to him was everything.
Chew #48 (Image)
Arnab: It’s hard to put into words just how much amazing fun this book is.
NickZ: There is so much humor, action, and character stuff in every issue of Chew. It makes me sad knowing that it is almost over.
Convergence #3 (DC)
Arnab: By all means, kill off one of your two interesting characters. It’s not like this book isn’t terrible anyway.
Infinite Speech: If you’re not familiar with DC characters then skip this. If you’re familiar then read at your own risk.
Martin: 3/5 stars. Such a wasted opportunity for what could have been some great Grayson/Thomas Wayne scenes. Plus Telos is boring.
NickZ: This was the best issue so far but that’s not saying much considering how crappy the first two were.
Convergence Adventures of Superman #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Wolfman goes against the grain by showing Domed heroes actually trying to escape the Dome!
Convergence Batman and the Outsiders #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: If you miss this team just go back and read those old stories.
Martin: 4/5 stars. A real cool character study told in 80’s style. Nice touch making Metamorpho happy.
NickZ: Didn’t realize how much I’ve missed the Outsiders. This is probably the best Convergence title this week.
Convergence Flash #1 (DC)
Arnab: Honestly, it was so boring I almost fell asleep while reading it.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Another strong tie-in, due to a perfect mixture of story & art. Wish more tie-ins were like this.
Convergence Green Lantern Corps #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. This serves as a great intro to Guy Gardner & why he’s like he is, but the end is a bit off
Convergence Hawkman #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. 1 of the best tie-ins because it largely ignores the stupid “battle-world” premise. Beautiful art, too.
Convergence Justice League of America #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Oh, it’s about the Detroit JLA? *immediately closes book*
Martin: 3/5 stars. A fun look back at the Detroit era of the League, but the plot is way too contrived.
NickZ: Who doesn’t love the bad news bears of Justice League teams? What really made this issue though, was Sue Dibny.
Convergence New Teen Titans #1 (DC)
Arnab: Reading this just felt awkward.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. It’s great having Wolfman writing these characters again, & Nicola Scott’s art is fantastic.
Convergence Superboy & the Legion of Superheroes #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. A fun nostalgic look at this particular comics era, w/ matching art style.
Convergence Swamp Thing #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. It’s a treat having Len Wein writing this & the art is great. But it’s more like an origin recap.
Convergence Wonder Woman #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Middleton’s art is the star, but there’s a good story w/ clever ideas, too. 1 of the better tie-ins
NickZ: Wonder Woman fights a cult and then vampire versions of Batman’s villains. No joke!
Curb Stomp #3 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: Shit just got really real.
Deadly Class #12 (Image)
NickZ: This issue was insane! This is one of the best series out there! I can’t wait for the next issue!
Divinity #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Matt Kindt has delivered a fantastic series that you should check out!
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #213 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: That was a little too convenient and made the “death” of Snake Eyes fall flat.
Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men The Black Vortex Omega #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: See now, this would have been a great place to have Bobby have his heart changed.
NickZ: I wonder if any of these changes to these characters will even matter after Secret Wars. Also, I’m not feeling the Kitty/Star-lord development.
Hulk #15 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I can’t believe how much fun I’m having with this title!
Inhuman Special #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The parts with Spidey were entertaining but the important parts weren’t.
NickZ: Spider-Man’s interactions with the young Inhumans was worth the cost of admission.
Ivar, Timewalker #4 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Van Lente made me feel really bad for Neela after every attempt. Another hit from Valiant!
Lazarus #16 (Image)
Martin: 5/5 stars. A great change of pace, focusing on a minor character combined with superb art & “archive” materials. Brilliant.
Ninjak #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Roku is my new favorite assassin!
The Powerpuff Girls Super Smash-up #4 (IDW)
NickZ: Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends and Powerpuff Girls were two of my favorite Cartoon Network shows, so of course I loved this issue!
Samurai Jack #18 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This has been a fantastic series since the first issue!
Suiciders #3 (Vertigo)
Infinite Speech: WOW! Now here comes the double cross!
Star Wars #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: Lots of developments happen in this issue. Aaron and Cassaday continue to come out strong with the force.
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: Okay, it took four issues but North and Henderson finally got me on board with this series. It is ridiculous and hilarious and I love it.
Velvet #10 (Image)
Martin: 5/5 stars. One of the best comics being published. This end of the second arc has a stunning ending & spectacular art as always.
Wolverines #15 (Marvel)
NickZ: This issue wasn’t too bad, it wasn’t good either but for this series, that’s a win.
