There are many ways you can portray a good character in a comic book; other characters could describe them, the character could talk about themselves, etc. Or you could drop him in the desert and have him spend the next ten days wandering with limited water, in order to save a baby’s life. If this issue didn’t warm you heart, even just a little bit, then nothing will. Taking a break from the violence and fighting, Tim Seeley and Tom King do a fantastic job of telling a beautiful story without using much dialogue. Likewise, Mikel Janin and Jeromy Cox are absolutely smashing it with the art duties. The two of them made a dozen or so pages of desert walking actually entertaining. This book continues to impress issue after issue. 4/5

Swamp Thing #37

A new kingdom is born and they have chosen a queen. Charles Soule is taking this series to the next level. As consistent as his run has been the entire time, Soule has really kicked it up a couple notches with these past couple of issues. The Machine Kingdom is a wonderfully terrifying concept and is absolutely entertaining to read about. The Machine Queen is equally as terrifying, if not more, considering just how calculating and vindictive she may be. Jesus Saiz and Matt Hollingsworth deliver a book that is absolutely gorgeous. The juxtaposition of the smooth, pristine machines with the organic world is absolutely stunning and a wonder to look at. With Soule’s final issue on Swamp Thing nearing us, it will be exciting to see how everything wraps up with this upcoming war. 4.5/5
