What happens when a police officer is accidentally murdered by a Robin? The entire city goes on lockdown. Even worse, “Robin” and everything connected is outlawed by the city, leading to cops recklessly arresting teens with even the slightest connection to the Robins. As far as first issues go, this one is done particularly well. The situation between the Robins and the Gotham police is handled wonderfully, especially with the return of the Court of Owls and their role in everything that is going on. Damian’s return to Gotham is also done wonderfully in typical Damian fashion. Gordon-Batman is his usual bumbling self, accomplishing little more than beating on kids while inside a gigantic metal suit. All in all the “War”, as planned by the Court of Owls, is progressing along smoothly. With the three previous Robins returning to Gotham, this is shaping up to be an action packed event. 4.5/5
Batman and Robin Eternal #9

The story is essentially split into three parts right now: the flashbacks of Batman and Robin, Tim and Jason in Santa Prisca, and Dick, Harper, and Cassandra in Prague. It’s not necessarily a terrible way of layout out the series, however because there is so much ground to cover, each plot line feels as if it is progressing slowly issue to issue and when something finally does occur, such as Azrael and the Order of St. Dumas appearing, it seems completely out of nowhere. That being said, this series has been doing a great job with writing the Robins. While Dick has had the privilege of being written by a number of exceptional writers, Jason and Tim, especially Tim, have seen better days. That’s why this series is such a blessing, because they’re finally giving these characters the attention they deserve. Likewise, Harper and Cassandra, though Cassie was not in this issue, have also been written tremendously well. Harper, who used to be rather annoying Batman Eternal, has really turned around the last couple of issues. 3/5
