With Chimera seemingly dealt with for the time being, Aquaman directs his focus to the ever-pressing matter of seismic tremors wreaking havoc in Atlantis. In order to accomplish this, he invites Daniel Evans and Stephen Shin to the ancient city for a six month research expedition. Whether or not Aquaman is fit to lead Atlantis is often debated by Atlanteans, with some of his opposition going so far as rebelling, and Jeff Parker adds his own twist to the story. Considering this issue is pretty much meant to set up this new arc, it is done very well. The story is intriguing, the cliff-hanger was decently executed, but more importantly the art continues to look gorgeous. Paul Pelletier, Sean Parsons, and Rain Beredo do a wonderful job week after week of making sure this book looks as nice as it does. 4.5/5

batman eternal 29Batman Eternal #29
Writers: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Ray Fawkes, John Layman, and Tim Seeley
Artists: Simon Coleby and Romulo Fajardo Jr.
Cover Artists: Alex Garner
Publisher: DC

With as many stories that are taking place in Batman Eternal right now, the Arkham Asylum story is probably the least connected to the rest of the stories, and if anything is the most chaotic of all of the stories. Following Batwing and Jim Corrigan as they investigate the on goings of Arkham, this plot line somehow manages to keep itself distanced from the rest of Batman Eternal. While the Batman Eternal team has done a stand up job with this series, these Arkham-centric stories have really been a tad lackluster. The books themselves have been decent issues, however, after 29 issues we’re nowhere closer to finding out just how, or even if, this resurrection has anything to do with the rest of the story. The art in this book was actually quite pretty to look at, however, there were moments throughout the issue where the art felt rushed and it was difficult following the actions in the show. 3/5
