In a strange turn of events, DC decided that this current arc would take place at the beginning stages of Batman and Superman’s friendship, aka Bruce Wayne is Batman, so the story is already better. This particular story involves a dead space traveler on the moon, Lobo signing up to kill Batman, and a lost Kryptonian, basically the ingredients for your every day Batman/Superman teamup. It isn’t really the story elements that make a Bruce and Clark team-up that much different than a Gordon and Clark team-up, it’s the interaction between the two characters. In this Universe, Batman and Superman were both fairly new at hero-ing when they met, so they were always basically equals, the brains and the brawn, the morals and the moral ambiguity. Whereas Gordon is more of an old dog trying to learn new tricks, while keeping up with a seasoned vet. 4/5

Batman/Teenabatman tmnt 2ge Mutant Ninja Turtles #2
Writer: James Tynion IV
Artists:
Freddie E. Williams II and Jeremey Colwell
Cover Artist:
Kevin Eastman
Publisher:
DC

It’s impossible for anyone to come out of the 90’s and not be a fan of either Batman or the Ninja Turtles, or more likely, both. This mini series takes both those things and brings them together in spectacular fashion. The Turtles, along with Master Splinter, Shredder, and his Foot Clan have all been transported to Gotham from their Universe and Batman isn’t particularly pleased about that. Obviously its all a misunderstanding and probably by the time the next issue ends Batman and the Turtles will be working together, but it was still all kinds of awesome to see Batman go head to head with Leo, Donnie, Raph, and Mikey. 4/5

So glad this issue of Batman/TMNT added a sense of urgency to the story and with the twist it makes things a lot more interesting. But I’m really hoping we get Batman vs Shredder because Freddie Williams is drawing the HELL out of this book!!!
