Infinite Frontier: Catwoman #29: Trouble in Little Tokyo
Publisher: DC
Writer: Ram V
Artist: Fernando Blanco
Colorist: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Tom Napolitano
Cover:
I’ll be honest, I was a little confused at first because instead of picking up from where Future State left off, Infinite Frontier just kept going from the series before which I hadn’t read (I may have to go back to get some details); I appreciated that Ram V used footnotes to list what issue some details could be found in. The storyline jumped around a bit too much I felt but I enjoyed this new masked character as well as the fact that we got to see some classic DC villains. The art team did an excellent job with creating images and sequences that drew you in and added to the story. Some of the details hinted at what was to come (like a certain plant in a tank with someone), or just added to the characters (like a question mark tattoo) or fights. Overall, I enjoyed the story, primarily the twist at the end but I do wish the writer hadn’t jumped around so much. 3/5
Infinite Frontier: Suicide Squad #1
Publisher: DC
Script: Robbie Thompson
Pencils: Eduardo Pansica
Inks: Julio Ferreira
Color: Marcelo Maiolo
Letters: Wes Abbott
Cover:
Thompson continues along the same storyline that Future State left us. Waller is planning on creating a crazy Suicide Squad lineup and has one of the current squads on a mission to get some new members from Arkham Asylum. Thompson takes us on quite the journey through Arkham with fights amongst not only the Suicide Squad and the Arkham guards but the Squad and some inmates as well, including who seems to be the primary target… at first anyway. The art team did an amazing job of adding the minute details that really amped up the fight scenes and drama in general as well as making some things more clear, such as the gas that seems to make everyone smile. That twist at the end definitely left me wanting more! 5/5

That Suicide Squad book was pretty good and I’m glad they kept going from the mini event but the rest of Infinite Frontier is confusing me. Catwoman really could have been better. Except for the Future State comics I’ve been getting bored with her series and might just have to drop it soon.
