Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 11/04/15

Batman: Detective Comics #46 (DC)
Arnab: Honestly, one of the only Gordon/Batman issues I’ve liked.
Martin: 3/5 stars. Tries to keep the “detective” part of the story, but having the Justice League guest-star just seems forced.

Batman & Robin Eternal #5 (DC)citizen jack 1
Arnab: Dear DC, bring old Tim back.
Infinite Speech: This has turned out to be a lot more fun than expected!
Martin: 3/5 stars. Definitely the weakest of this series so far. Some intriguing potential but not fully developed.

Bat-Mite #6 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The end of a fun, goofy series w/ a bit of a Silver Age vibe. The ending’s a bit rushed, but that’s not the point.

Citizen Jack #1 (Image)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Compelling & a bit disturbing. Jack is a completely unlikable character but makes you want to know more.

Doctor Strange #2 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I’ve read and LIKED two issues of a Doc Strange comic. Things just got weird and not the creatures in this issue.

Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor #1 (Titan)
Infinite Speech: Okay, looks like I’ll stick around for a bit!

Extraordinary X-Men #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: So they’re still keeping with this everybody hates Scott bit, huh? Boo
Infinite Speech: Lemire & Ramos make this a great intro issue but why does Jean have to be here!

Invincible Iron Man #3 (Marvel)klaus 1
Infinite Speech: Bendis & Marquez are comic book magic together! If you need proof, I’m reading Iron Man!

James Bond 007 #1 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: I like a good spy story so I’ll be sticking w/ this one!

Justice League – Darkseid War: Flash #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Flash races against Death. Sounds cliche but there are great character insights here.

Justice League – Darkseid War: Superman #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Starts out a little 1-note (bad guy Superman!) but gets better as the story develops.

Klaus #1 (Boom!)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. It’s an odd premise & not kid-friendly, but Morrison’s “Santa Claus: Year 1” style story has a special charm.

Lazarus #20 (Image)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A bit more focus on the inner familial dealings of the Carlyle family, which as always is really messed up.

Monstress #1 (Image)uncanny xmen 600
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. A fantastic 1st issue with spectacular art, a creepy, pseudo-steampunk world, & a female-led revenge story.

Ninjak #9 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Kindt drops an unexpected bomb in this issue.

We Stand On Guard #5 (Image)
Martin: 3/5 stars. The idea of this is actually much better than its execution. None of the characters are engaging enough.

Uncanny X-Men #600 (Marvel)
Arnab: Gay Bobby? Kinda cool. Everyone shaming Beast, till that pathetic excuse for a mutant runs away in shame? Amazing. He deserved worse tbh.
Infinite Speech: On the fence about whether I liked it but that Art Adams cover is fantastic!
