Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 4/28/2010

Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews. Here you can find out what we here at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!

Aladdin: Legacy of the Lost #3(Radical)
Andy: A gorgeous looking issue and it definitely pulled off a different, unique take on Aladdin. Too abrupt an ending for my tastes though.
Infinite Speech: A pretty good ending that opens the door for another great adventure, one of the better books I read last week!

The Amazing Spider-Man #629 (Marvel)
Aron:
Eh…so-so. But exciting things are on the way. I feel it in my bones.

Captain America #605 (Marvel)
Aron:
Wow! That was a quick read. I’m glad this arc is over. It was dumb. This book has gone down hill. Time to drop it?
Infinite Speech: The end of a damn good arc right here though I didn’t even look at the Nomad backup story.
Kristin: “It’s over, Captain UnAmerica!” Seriously? Ugh…. Bad dialog this issue.

Civil War #1 MGC (Marvel)
Billy: What can I say but…Awesome! But who doesn’t know that. I own the TPB but had to get this because I have a buying problem.

Darkness #84(Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: When Hunter Killers are after you it’s just NOT a good day!

Deadpool #22 (Marvel)
Andrew: Pretty funny. Loved the art. Could have used more action.
Aron: Dumb. Seems Daniel Way was slackin’ on this one.

Detective Comics #864 (DC)
Andrew: Not bad, but I miss Greg Ruka and Batwoman.
Aron: Finally! Enough of that Batwoman crap and back to Batman!

Fall of the Hulks: Red Hulk #4 (Marvel)
Aron: Interesting. But can we get on with the main attraction already? Sheesh!

Fantastic Four #578 (Marvel)
Andy: I dig it. Hickman is bringing the F4 back to their roots and it’s f-ing great!
Andrew: I love this classic FF stuff.

Gotham City Sirens #11 (DC)
Andrew: Meh. This book is really starting to slow down. And its seen better artists, too.

Green Hornet #3 (Dynamite)
Aron: AWESOME!
Infinite Speech: Kevin Smith’s story is still goin’ strong!

Green Lantern Corps #47 (DC)
Andrew: Kinda slow issue. I’m interested in where the GLC is headed, though.
Andy: I really liked this issue as it nicely changed the pace and set up where these characters are headed. And screw the Guardians!
Aron: A nice wrap on Tomasi’s run. Will it continue to be a good read?
Infinite Speech: The Corps go to the Guardians and demand that they bring the love back.

Hulked Out Heroes #2 (Marvel)
Decapitated Dan:
Wow this was really a let down. Note to Marvel just call it Hulkpool. can I have a refund?

Invincible #71 (Image)
Decapitated Dan:
Alright I am back on board! Wow, powerful issue and a good place to jump on.

Invincible Iron Man #25 (Marvel)
Andrew: Awesome fresh start. Now’s the time to jump on board!
Andy: Lots of expo but that’s ok because it’s the beginning of a new direction with the title. Looking forward to what happens next!
Aron: A bunch of scientific mumbo jumbo. A bunch of business jargon. An awesome new suit of armor!

Jack of Fables #45 (Vertigo)
Andy: Jack Frost has been the best thing to happen to this series.

Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal #2 (DC)
Andy: One of the most powerful openings in comics this week. Poor Roy.
Infinite Speech: Roy tries out his new arm, attacks friends at the funeral, then gets his ass handed to him by his daughter’s mother… and the drug problem is looming.

Mighty Avengers #36 (Marvel)
Andy: Gave it a shot but I just don’t care about any of these characters.
Billy: Why this says Siege on it I don’t know but it was a good wrap up to the Ultron story.

New Avengers #64 (Marvel)
Aron:
A little bit of Siege #4 was just spoiled, wasn’t it?
Billy: Great set-up for the big battle with Sentry that’s forthcoming! I knew XXXXXXXXXXX wasn’t dead!
Infinite Speech: More Siege madness and the Hood gets B#$! slapped!
Kristin: A jumbled mess of nonsense without the tie-ins. Good example of what’s wrong with comics today.

Punisher #16 (Marvel)
Decapitated Dan:
I liked it, kinda, but I am glad that first arc is over.

Scalped #37 (Vertigo)
Andy:
Man, this series just keeps getting better and better. The #1 Vertigo title out there right now.

Siege: Secret Warriors #1 (Marvel)
Billy: Hickman hits another Homerun! Great story about how Barack and the Secret Service fear Phobos!

Songs to Make You Smile (TOKYOPOP)
Kristin:
It sounds cheesy given the title, but it makes you smile. Reminds me why I love Natsuki Takaya.

Star Wars Legacy #47 (Dark Horse)
Andy: I really think Admiral Stazi, the Alliance, and their Imperial allies need their own title! Easily the best Star Wars series out there.

Teen Titans #82 (DC)
Andy:
It’s really getting too campy for my tastes. I hope Ravager makes her way back into a regular series soon.

Thor #609 (Marvel)
Billy: Cool issue showing the Asgardians unite to face the Sentry! Tan’s art is spectacular!

Ultimate Avengers 2 #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Ok, I’m in. A cool new take on The Punisher, plus a new character is introduced!
Aron: Another quick read. Was it weird? Yes. Was it entertaining? Surprisingly, yes. Ghost Rider was on the variant. He better show up.
Decapitated Dan: Nice read. But come on Marvel. Were you just looking for a reason to bring that costume back?
Infinite Speech: It’s bloody, it’s violent, it’s Millar doin’ what he does best and Yu makes it pretty to look at!

Usagi Yojimbo #128 (Dark Horse)
Aron: This story was dull. Usagi-san’s blades are not.

The Waking #3 (Zenescope)
Aron: Some hoakie detective…ness. I think it ruined the issue for me.

The Walking Dead #71 (Image)
Andy: I’m with Carl and Andrea- something sketchy’s going on here…
Jeff: Just when you think these folks are OK, and it turns out they might be the bad guys this time around.

Wolverine Origins #47 (Marvel)
Andy: Will everyone just pick a damn side!? Jeez.
Billy: 3 more issues until Romulus is gone, right? Oh, Daken is just going to take over, sorry. He’ll have his hands full with Franken-Castle though!
Jeff: Not sure why Skaar has such a big role to play in this, but not a bad issue.

Wonder Woman #43 (DC)
Andy: Liked the art but this is the wrong issue to just jump into story-wise.
Kristin: Little confusing, like I’m missing something. At least Achilles is still running around with his shirt off.

X-Force #26 (Marvel)
Andy: Absolutely Amazing. Choi’s art makes this issue a grand slam, and I’m totally ok with who dies.
Aron: NO! DAMMIT, NO! *sniff! sniff!* *tear*
Billy:
Dear Marvel, next time kill off Iceman instead. Thank you. (Just kidding Dan, Andy)
Decapitated Dan: More on the lame side of things for me. But I will say it’s about time ☠ ☠ ☠ ☠ died.
Infinite Speech: He’s swashbucklin’ in heaven now!
Jeff: My favorite X-Man is dead and done beautifully by Kyle/Yost/Choi/Oback.

Holy crap, there’s a manga on there! How did that get there?

  2. andrewhurst

Aron, you’re insane. Detective Comics was the best it’s been a a looong time with Batwoman,

  3. Aron

Andrew, I had a feeling you might say something in defense. Ha! It was an enjoyable read, but had to cut it due to funds. Had it bend mind-blowing, I would have kept it.

Speech, I tried the Nomad back up story, the first time and didn’t make it all the way through. It sucked. I never look at it either, but now it says next issue is Cap vs Nomad? Will that suck too!?

  4. InfiniteSpeech

@ Aron – You KNOW it’s bad when you can’t make it throug a back up story lol! And yeah it will probably suck too man!

  5. Billy

@Everyone who buys Captain America -Don’t give up yet, I’m prett sure the next arc is with Zemo!

  6. Kristin

Yeah, Zemo is coming up. That’s enough to keep me reading it for a little while.
