Amazing Spider-Man #33 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Of course I wanted more Miguel here but this is the set up issue. Great reveals and a top notch cliffhanger will keep me here a little longer. Plus I want to see what happens to the guy trying to kill Doom!
Batman #82 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This issue just reminded me that Thomas Wayne beat Cassandra Cain and the rest of the Batfamily. To be honest, King already gave us a great Batman vs Bane fight and this ain’t it.
Martin: 3/5 stars. While the fight scene, & Batman’s ultimate deception were a fun read, the “true” villain of “City of Bane” seems to be Thomas Wayne, and I’m done with him. He’s nowhere close to the nuanced character he was in Flashpoint.
Batman Universe #5 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Honestly, Bendis can get a bit wordy, but I’ve really been enjoying this series that harkens back to the more fun stories with a Silver Age sensibility that so few people write any longer. I’ll take this over “grim/dark” anytime.
Deathstroke #49 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This is top tier storytelling from Christopher Priest that ANY Deathstroke fan should be reading! One more issue to go!
Green Lantern: Blackstars #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I’m a Morrison fan-boy. I love how he explores & celebrates oft-forgotten stories & eras of DC’s history. This “interlude” between his main Green Lantern story is fun, but requires a LOT of prior knowledge to make sense.
Justice League #33 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Finally the fight is going to Earth but it looks like the good guys already lost.
Legion of Superheroes #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Took a chance on this one and it wasn’t too bad. Going to stick with for the next few issues.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Sook’s art really helps raise the score of this debut issue, & the scope is appropriately huge for a Legion title. But, the character development is almost non-existent & sometimes the dialogue seems out of order.
Livewire #12 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Not the ending I was expecting but hopefully this means Amanda and the kids are getting back together for more superhero action!
Locke & Key: Dog Days #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: The first story was just adorable while the second got me hyped for the return of the Locke family and Keyhouse!
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #12 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Javier Garron and David Curiel draw one hell of an issue here but I wish Miles wouldn’t have gotten in his Uncle’s way.
New Mutants #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This is exactly what not minding your business looks like. Definitely coming back for issue 2.
Savage Avengers #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This Doctor Voodoo arc has my full attention.
Superman: Up in the Sky #5 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Unlike the more fun style of Bendis’ Walmart-first Batman title, King drags Superman down into the more gritty, darker themes he uses for Batman. Sometimes it works, but unfortunately not in this issue.
X-Force #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: How does Krakoa get attacked? There are some serious holes in the defenses here that shouldn’t have happened.
