Adventure Time Comics #19 (Boom!)
NickZ: Finn and Jake deal with a couple of impostors, Banana Man tries to out run death, and we get to see the day in the life of Ice Finn! Not bad for one comic.
All-New Wolverine #29 (Marvel)
NickZ: Even with Laura’s fancy new armor, it’s Daken’s quick thinking and help from an unlikely source that keep Orphans of X at bay.
Amazing Spider-Man & Venom Inc. Omega #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: This was a pretty fun crossover but what I liked most was that every main character came out of this story in a better place than where they started and that opens up some great potential future stories!
Avengers #676 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Forget Voyager! I want to see the Black Order vs The Lethal Legion battle right NOW!
NickZ: This story line is one hot mess! The premise of a reconned character has been done before and better than this. It feels like they are literally making this stuff up as they go alone with no real plan for the plot.
Batman #39 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Is Wonder Woman trying to get one last hurrah in with Bruce before he walks down the isle with Catwoman??
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The art in this is amazing, especially the depictions of Wonder Woman. It’s an interesting story that people are claiming has been “done better” a long time ago in Action Comics, but I never read that. I enjoyed it.
NickZ: I have been the biggest Tom King fanboy on his Batman run but even I’ve gotta admit that this issue maybe his first misstep. The tone was way off and the story felt very out of place. Hopefully the next issue clears some of this up.
Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II #3 (DC/IDW)
Infinite Speech: Things take a turn for the worst for the good guys but it was great seeing Raph vs Damian!
NickZ: The trope of everyone getting “Venomized” when they team up with Bane is stale.
Champions #16 (Marvel)
NickZ: While the rest of the team goes on a fun membership drive, both Viv Visions have a difficult time adapting to their new status quo.
Copperhead #18 (Image)
NickZ: What an incredible ending to volume 3! After revealing Clara’s back story I have a completely new respect for her character. And now that she and the new mayor are finally seeing eye to eye again, I can’t wait to see what volume 4 will bring!
Damage #1 (DC)
Martin: 2.5/5 stars. Sadly, a rather lack-luster beginning to DC’s “New Age of Heroes.” No character development for Damage, his alter-ego, or his main antagonist.
Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: It’s been some time since we’ve seen Wolvie go on a berserker’s rage like this! Glad to know he’s still the best at what he does.
Doctor Strange #384 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Cates and Walta added a character I could care less about and made this a story worth my time. Thanks!
NickZ: Doctor Strange goes to some crazy/reckless lengths to reclaim his old standing from Loki.
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #247 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This was better than expected but made me miss the real Snake Eyes even more.
Green Lanterns #39 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. An unsatisfying ending to a somewhat lackluster arc. The idea and its relevance to current politics was intriguing, but had poor execution. And I’m still missing the great interactions between Simon & Jess.
Justice League #37 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I am pleasantly surprised at how they handled the villain unveiled in issue #36. He’s much more complex than the standard villain, and the story also wasn’t what I was expecting.
NickZ: The League gets taken down by…their biggest fanboy!?! Even I am struggling to suspend my disbelief on this one.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #23 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: Billy just found the one person he shouldn’t have and the Shattered Grid event can’t get here soon enough!
Mighty Thor #703 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Mangog just freakin’ ate ******* and he has Odin shaking in his boots! I don’t see how this ends well for anyone!
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #299 (Marvel)
NickZ: Heroes, government agencies, and villains are all scrambling to get the inside info of the super powered community, but they are all just being tinkered with. (See what I did there?)
Spirits of Vengeance #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This issue was okay but still thinking about taking this one off my list if things don’t get better soon.
Summit #2 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Amy Chu and Jan Duursema deliver another damn good issue! Can’t wait to see what Val can do with her new powers!
Superman #39 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Amazing art lifts this score, but sometimes it’s just fun to read a comic that doesn’t involve universe-threatening bad guys and people in capes throwing punches. Yes, it’s a “filler” issue where nothing “important” happens, but I find it touching.
NickZ: Superman spends the day with some sick, hospitalized children and it’s as emotional as you’d expect.
Super Sons #12 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This was a decent ending to the crossover but I’m satisfied with the results of the vote.
Martin: 4/5 stars. I really liked the art in this issue, & while the “Titans of Tomorrow” were pretty much wasted in this arc finale, they made up for it with great character interactions between Damian and Jon.
NickZ: “Sons of Tomorrow” has set up so many potential future stories and has really solidified the friendship between Jon and Damian.
Superb #6 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Not a fan of multiple artists but Superb continues to live up to it’s name!
Sword of Ages #2 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: If you’re a fan of sci-fi/fantasy then check out Gabriel Rodriguez’s latest because it’s and excellent entry to the genre!
Trinity #17 (DC)
NickZ: A fun premise of a story having the trinity stranded and crippled. Lets see how it plays out.
X-Men Gold #20 (Marvel)
NickZ: Storm finally gets some time to shine but I don’t feel she really would need a kick in the rear from Logan to do what needs to be done.
